OMG damn pot-hole
I just one today on the interstate 5 on the way to Irvine...only 700 miles on it too damnit!!!! How can I tell if its ok? I dont see any rim damage such as scrathes and I ran my hand around the tire to feel for lumps....I also dont hear and loud noises when I drive...am I ok?
BE CAREFUL! Keep a close eye on your tire! If you nailed a pot hole enough to bend the rim the tire must have been pretty low on air or it was really stressed, enough to compress completely and allow the rim to bend.
In the next few days your tire may slowly develop an air bubble in the side wall. The steel belts in the tire may have broke and the rubber just needs time to "yield" and blister.
This has happened to me before and the tire didn't show signs of damage for about 4-5 days so keep a close eye on this tire if you decide to reuse it!
Your cheapest bet would be to go to the CLASSIFIED section here on driver or over on my350z.com and buy a new wheel and tire for $150-$200.
This way you will not have a repaired rim, nor will you have a compromised tire!
Good Luck!
