Exhaust Hangers - Whats the trick!?!

I am trying to remove my aftermarket exhaust to reinstall the stock setup. I installed the aftermarket one a few years ago with my buddy and cannot remember how we managed to remove the hangers from the rubber holders and yesterday while trying could not for the life of me get those suckers out!!! is there a trick or something!?!!?? Thanks in advance for the help!!

The older they get the more difficult it gets to remove em! Give them a spray of WD40 and wait 30 minutes and give them another shot, should be easy now...Gary

WD-40, Kroil, Penetrating oils have their purpose to make your life easier and less prone to injuries. Shoot some AWD-40 in there and then let it do its job. Then bring in the motivator hammer to loosen it up some more .

cant you unbolt the brackets that hold the hangers on to the car? i think thats how i did mine. i just unbolted all the brackets and took the exhaust off the car then pried the hangers off.

I put dish soap on the hanger and once I made sure it was really lubbed up, I just pulled and it came right off

Heat helps too... maybe warm them up a bit with a heat gun first and then try to remove. If you try to remove them when they are ice cold it'll be 10x harder.

You can tighten them to about the same force as it took to take it off theres no torque spec in the fsm. Only for the manifold and the heat shield, the heat shield is 51 in lbs so maybe torque it to that if you want to torque it? With some high heat lock tight.

Torque specs exists for just about everything. Even the dipstick bolt for the auto trans.

Mid pipe to y pipe is 39-47 ft lbs and mid pipe to muffler is 23-28 ft lbs.
