Having some weird issues due to Cold Weather
Ok i went to start my car in this -2F temp this morning. It started, then it begin sputtering and tapping then it died. Then it took about 3 turn and some peddle pushing to get it started. Also it felt like the car didnt want to respond to the gas pedal.
After it started, it sputtered for about 10 seconds until it started idling correctly. Alot of and grey smoke came out the exhaust (showing a possible sign of flooding).
Also my fuel guage is reading backwards now (wayyyy below e). Its showing the fuel level, but just in a different part of the guage. Man this car doesn't like cold.
EDIT: After reading around i think the rough start could be the crank/cam sensors. But im not pulling any coded yet.

How's your battery looking?
When my battery was dying the voltages get all out of whack on the dash and throws the needle below the E pin and I also had starting issues in the cold where it sputtered and felt like dying but it didnt die for me. It just revved by itself to fight the low idles. Which is almost exactly what happened to you except I didnt have the grey smoke. To correct the needle issue, get a very strong magnet and guide the needle back over to the other side.
After changing the battery I never experienced it again at all. So for me it solved the issue. It's still worth getting the crank/cam sensors changed because the stock ones are garbage and will screw you over eventually anyways.

I just went into Lowes and got those block looking magnets. And had to do a lot of wiggling to get the needle over.
You're on the right track. Once you get it near the top it does that to me too.
Well at least i know its not my float or the guage cluster. This is what i love about this car. It can have a problem that seems major, but ends of being simple or inexpensive to fix

From what i know, It could be as simple as burning oil with something else going on too, or It could be a stuck pcv valve, which curbs harmful emissions. If the pcv valve is getting stuck, pressure could build up and lead to an oil leak, Another thing may be the engine burning automatic transmission fluid, the most likely culprit is a faulty transmission vacuum modulator, if it is a bad crank/cam, you could gets all yours and some of your dash lights coming up, before u buy them ask the dealer if there was any recall of those sensors, bc then they could change them for free
