I had posted this before but wanted to get some more opinions. If I use Mobil 1, what is the ideal filter to use with this? Is the OEM one okay or should I get the Mobil 1 filter??

Any opinions on that.

Thanks.

I like the Nissan filters, but the OEM filter for our G's is small, so my dealer recommended the larger Maxiama/Altima filter : p/n 15208-9E000

Well no one has asked the magic question? Why is synthetic better and how does it give me more HP and better gas mileage? Sythetic oil is manufactured and has consistant sized molecules, this gives an even coating of metal parts for better lubrication. More protection means you can run a thinner oil and have the same protection. All of the studys I have read have shown Mobil 1 to be the best. Yes you should run petroleum based oils, valvoline, havoline (not a parafin based oil like Penzoil, Quater State) for breakin. The extra protection of a sythetic will hamper breakin, the rings will never seat, you actually want the extra friction during breakin. Sorry it's to late to look for links, I'll post them tomorrow.

You can just go to Walmart and get their oil for $20 for Mobil 1 (5 quarts). It depends on where you live as far as grade. If its cold and lots of different climates, I'd go with the 5W-30. If its warm year round, then I believe 10W-30 is the recommended.

So if I were to start using mobil 1, would I have to change all my fluids or can I just change the oil?

You don't have to change anything else to start using Mobil1 oil.

Hey guys this from 5 years back. Mobil 1's formula's have changed since then and is no longer considered the best. Only oil of there's that is worth anything is their 0w-40 Euro formula. Before you can call bull****, one example is the GTR.

same chart is the reason why i run GTX for 1/2 the cost of AMSOIL

but lately i've been thinking of trying them out with a UoA, my GTX UoA showed great wear at 4200miles.
