I have an '03 Coupe and it's in my owner's manual. I don't have the manual at hand for reference, but it's in there.
Incidently, I use synthetic engine oil in my Coupe.

my service advisor at Infiniti here says they recommend mineral oil for the break time and up to around 7500 miles. he told me that after the car comes in with 7500 miles for service, they put full synthetic in them. true or not, don't know. but that's what I was told

I have full synth in my motor, gearbox, and rear end. I didn't notice any horsepower increase, but my gas mileage went up. It went up again when I installed my K&N panel filter and Z tube. I'm at 27mpg on the highway and 22 around town.

mobil 1 in the motor, royal purple in the drivetrain.

And for what its worth, I put nothing but synth in the Z-24 I bought right after high school, my brother owns it now, and with 178k on it, it starts and runs as smooth as when it had 28k on it.

 

man... this one is a tossup. I had considered going synthetic on the vehicle when it comes in, but after reading so many discrepincies, I am up in the air with this one. I need to speak to some reputable service reps and see what they are saying. For now, it seems like I would just go with the blend.

 

If you ask service managers at Infiniti, they always recommend the stock oil that they use instead of putting in synthetic. My dealer actually offers Mobil 1 as an option but I'm at 14K miles now, I will be bringing in my Mobil 1 from now on (its overpriced at the dealer).

The best advice I can say is to wait through the break-in period to switch to synthetic. Some say 3000, some say 10K, some even say 20K. Thats why I'm going over at 15 and hope for the best!

I would likely go with the mobil1 filter. I think that is reccomended.

 

Mobile One All the way, actually I just got my oil change (first synthetic change 19k miles).. I would go royal purple but that is way to expensive

A while back I changed my diff, tranny and engine oils to full synthetic. Being that I really like my warranty, I contacted Infiniti Canada directly, and was told by an advisor named Mark that as long as the fluids meet the specified requirements in the owners manual ie. 75/85 or 75/90 for the tranny and 80/90 for the diff, there would be no warranty issues at all. It did however take them 3 days to get back to me with the answer being that they had to ask there techs. The only full synth fluids that I could find to match the requirements was amsoil.They seem to be the only ones that make an 80/90 gear oil.Good thing they make great stuff! Hope this helps.

 

you can try both and see if you notice a difference and if not, just do what you want, there is NOTHING NOWHERE that says you cant go from DINO to SYN and back~ so go for it

 

not a huge one. 5qt of Mobil 1 can be had at Walmart for $19USD, RP is $5.50USD a qt at jcwhitney.com. Gotta pay shipping too for the RP unless you can find a place that sells it locally.
