Arbitrary book values on our cars

I think someone at kbb got him a taste of some of that G love and has slashed values suddenly so he could get himself a deal on a g35 lol.. dead serious, the value on my under 100k G35 went from 14000 to 6500 in a matter of MONTHS and I haven't even driven it, the mileage is the same. I can seriously show you dated screen shots. Anyone else found a similar experience when valuing your car?

I hadn't looked. I figure that in 20 or 30 years the remaining G-35 coupes will be worth $20-$40 grand. The cheap examples will get bought up and driven into the ground, as so many desirable cars have before, and what's left will be rare and therefore worth more.

KBB values are complete BS. Don't ever expect to get anywhere near book value.

The one and only accurate place to see the value of your car is Manheim or OVE.

I've never heard of either if those urbuddie, I'll have to check those out thanks. I always say the market is the best book lol. And idk about 30 to 40k and the word rare. I mean they are supposedly ending Z production (idk about g) because people are fed up with the prices when they could get a couple year old benz for the same money. That might make it rarer, but I don't think it will be a supra or gtr situation. Could be wrong.

You cannot check those, they are dealer only. Those ARE the market. They provide sale history for last several months for all cars. It is the only way to know exactly what your car is selling for.

It's to be expected. The newest G35 coupe is what? 8 years old now? The oldest is 12? Most of these cars are on their 2nd, 3rd or 4th owners, wear and tear, miles racking up and also consider who actually wants to go out and spend $10K on a 10 year old car?

I know we like our cars and such, but this is just how it goes. I was in the market for a G35 when these cars were brand spanking new. I almost walked out with a 2005 Athen's blue 6MT coupe for $36ishK. I ended up with my loaded AWD sedan which had a window sticker of $42K. So when these cars were new, the pricing was relatively comparable and some models of the 4door could be had for more than the $33K starting price of the 6MT. How does that play out now? The sedans dropped like a rock and the coupes retained some value simple because of the demand in the secondary market. Nobody wants to drive a 4-door grandpa car but a 2 door coupe RWD and 300HP is a much better alternative than a civic for a HS kid.

Eventually, something else will be popular. That's just how it goes. I imagine the breaking point will be when the price of used G37's drops far enough to be a more desirable pickup than an older G35. They are still $20K or so for a 2007 model but that will fall at a pretty fast rate.

Sure you will have enthusiasts for a long time, but they are not as high in numbers to keep prices up on their own. I'd imagine prices will fall for another 5-7 years or so and bottom out and then you will have a slow increase merely due to inflation. The clean, mint garage stored cars might get a premium in 20-30 years, but not $20-40K. Maybe $10-15K or so.

Just my opinion based on experience.

I wish you could buy a subscription. Oh well, I guess the cars are just on the out. I still think the 35 is better than 37 although the 37 is n I certainly is nicer in many ways

Yeah, i'm not crazy about the G37 coupes. Just not a fan of the exterior styling and like the 05-07 coupes better.

However, I love the 09+ sedans and the aggressive looking nose. If only that was on the coupe. I plan on buying one (eventually) and pleased to see prices of these dropping like a rock (as was expected).

I wasn't a fan of the g37 either that's why I bought my 35 last year .. but had I saw the 2011 G37 IPL thing would have went differently ...

the IPL brings that damn bubble to life .. go look at one in person .. it'll sway you .. until u see a base g37 again ...

I don't mind it. Virtually the same interior as the G37/Q40 sedan. I've grown to like it...although it certainly doesn't compare to a benz or lexus interior.
