Is the Valentine REALLY the best one on the market? I know it's had a good name for a while, but RadarTest.com has the Bel RX65 ranked as pretty much the best there is (with the exception of the systems that are over $1000).

I just want to know if the Valentine 1 really is the best or if everyone just gives it a pass because it was the best one for a long time. It may be that Bel and Escort have passed it by now.

Just curious.

Personally I think it's the best because of all the visual aspects and accessories you can purchase for it. Performance wise it's on pair with many others on the market but the counter and arrows make it worth it. You can also get a neat remote display and volume control separately that other companies don't really offer. It's also very easy to use at night.

I have a V1 hardwired with a remote display, my only gripe is I wish the led indicators (that let you know the radar band) were different colors, at night with the stereo cranked I can't hear the warning beeps.

What is the lifecycle for a typical Escort detector before a new model comes out? It appears the Escort 8500 X50 has been out for about a year.

I am holding out and hoping against hope that the next Escort model will have built in laser shifting. Any chance of this?

I am using the escort Solo S2. It is rated like the 8500 X50 but runs on batteries or can be hard wired.

I'm currently using the Solo S2, but I want to upgrade a bit to something a little more sensitive.
