Looking into buying wheels, few questions

Hey guys, so I've been looking at some wheels for my 2005 G coupe. Not looking for anything too expensive, maybe around a grand or less(not including tires) but Ive got some questions. I currently have stock 17" rims

1. So I really want 19s but I fear they will be much heavier than the 17s and ill lose some power. Is there any truth to this?

2. Also, what is the weight of the stock 17s

3. Should i get a staggered setup or same size rims/tires all around. It would be nice to be able to rotate tires but alot of G owners setups are stagered so i"m wondering if i should go with the flow.

4. will my VDC act up if i get new wheels/tires

5. I was looking at some rims that happened to have offsets in the high teens, will that work if the rim if 9.5 inches wide?
I mean like will it scrape

6. If you have any wheel recommendations, throw em at me

Sorry for the barrage of questions, shopping for wheels is difficult and it seems I cant find the perfect ones without spending an *** ton of $$$$

Thanks in advance

The perfect option for you would be the OEM 19" Rays found on the coupes. They negate any of the issues you listed. /thread

Best answer to your questions! ^ Most factory rims will have the correct offset and weight you're looking for up and thru G37 coupe wheels...Gary

If you need wheels now for under 1k I agree with ^^ go for oem rays, awesome wheels. But anything really aftermarket won't be great in your budget

The weight won't be an issue; you're 17s are pretty heavy anyway and you won't notice a 5lb difference. What you should pay attention to is your overall tire diameter. Just use a tire size calculator to be sure you get a tire on your new wheels that's a similar diameter to the tire on there now.

Like they said earlier, the rays will be your best choice. They're lighter than your current wheels, they're forged and they look ok (I'm not a huge fan, but lots of people like them). Also, the offset is fine, or works perfectly with the standard 20f/25r spacer treatment.

I will add, however that 19" tires are usually more expensive than 18" or 20" tires, so for long term costs (our cars go thru tires fast) the 19s may not be the cheapest.

I'd keep an eye out for some nice used 18's, and if they're real (like Volks or Works) they will likely be very close to the weight of stock wheels. Like scraggle said, tires will be cheaper for 18's. For offsets and sizes, 9.5 front with +12 ish, and 11 rear with +15 ish will be just about perfect. For tire sizes, like everyone else said, use the calculator. VDC isn't that big of a deal anyway, but having it constantly off would be annoying cause of the light. GL man and welcome!

Yeah, like con said, keep an eye out for some cool deals on yer local CL. I got some 18" nismo LMGT4s for $900+OEM trade. 18lbs, fully forged, decent offsets (only needed 10mm spacers all around; not pictured). The deals are out there if you're patient.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I've thought about buying the stock rays and the plan right now is to see if I can find some used ones on CL or something cause then they'll be dirt cheap and I'll have cash left over for nicer tires. Although I'd rather have something different I guess the Rays are the best option performance-wise.

^ those wheels are pretty sick. I've been checking my local CL a good bit and I keep finding wheels that are nice but have curb rash lol. Hopefully a decent set shows up soon

sleven36- I'm not really looking for 20s but thanks for the offer

I'll update the thread once I buy something haha

Don't forget to check your surrounding areas on CL too (as far as your willing to drive). I had to drive an hour and a half away.
