Smoked a BMW 330I today
So I'm on my way back from the Toronto Auto show when I hear someone reving at the lights; i look over and buddy with his 330i M package is nudging ahead and reving. I decide to get off the cell, disengage VDC and suddenly we r waiting for the lights to change.
Bamm, 1st , 2nd 3rd and I'm 2 car lengths ahead,,, felt sweet especially being the 1st race of the year! At least he waved in defeat after I handed him his ars!
So now that I'm on an adrenaline high what mods should I begin with?

With VDC off, the car can take off easier without bogging. As you know, if the computer senses any wheel slippage (like burning rubber from a stop), it will cut throttle and apply braking. This is cool when driving in snow or rain, but not when racing from a dig. Anyway, I cut my tooth on 330I/330Ci and even a ZHP and I've never lost to one ever. Nice Kill.

our Stock G's can't kill WRX Impreza .. i believe it will be a good race , but if u really want to find out .. you have to go out and race one... as far as 330I's ... i raced a 330CI with my 2004 5AT (obviously driving manumatic)! ... i dusted it .. i more than dusted it .. but i gotta tell you ... those cars are beautiful .. but our G's are faster and more beautiful

I played around with a friends stock WRX from a 5mph roll...By the end of 4th I had about 1.5 cars on him...He was very impressed with my ride, and proceeded to tell me he had a larger turbo setup, headers, and exhaust on order and would love to race me again sometime...lol, needless to say I'll be avoiding him for a long time...haha

Rule of thumb is never trust BMW's published HP; it's often under-rated. I also have a Z4 6-sp that's got 225HP at the crank, but has dyno'd 202 HP at the rear wheels. But yeah a G should be faster than the 330i.

I wish people would stop spreading that BMW underrates their engines. They absolutely do not. Check E46 M3 dynos, they have ~18% drive train loss. I'm not discounting your particular dyno experience, but different dynos do give different results (dynojet vs dynopack) even if SAE corrected. Google shows another Z4 that dyno'd at 193 whp which is ~15% drivetrain loss. Someone on my350z with a stock 350z got ~255 whp. That's ~11% drivetrain, although most 350z stock dynos I've seen are more in the 230 range. There are a few cars that are underrated. Like the SRT-4.

I didn't compare the dynos, but BMW's inline 6 is known to have a flat torque curve whereas Japanese engines typically are more peaky. This certainly helps in initial acceleration. According to Road & Track, they recently compared the 35th edition 350Z with some other sports cars and it was interesting to note that the new engine has more horsepower, but a little less torque which flattened the curve and helped to lower 0-60 by 0.2 seconds.
