Service Engine Soon flashing 5 times when car is on ACC, but no codes.
Service Engine Soon flashing 5 times when car is on ACC, but no codes.
I have a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe, and when I turn the key to ON position (without actually starting the car) The Service Engine Soon light comes on with the rest of the usual lights, stays on for about 5 seconds then blinks 5 times, remaining lit on the fifth time and then stays on.
Anyone know what this is? Note: It goes away when I turn on the car, I also checked for error codes with my OBD2 Bluetooth adapter and I got nothing.

Probably it's the System Readiness Test (SRT), basically it means the vehicle is NOT ready to pass an emissions test.
Put the OBD2 system into diagnostic mode and see if it gives you a code that way.
When in diagnostic mode it flashes a morse code. If you have NO CODES it will be:
-10 slow flashes
-10 quick flashes
-10 quick flashes
-10 quick flashes
Then it will continue to repeat that 10slow, 10fast x3.
10 = 0 so it's flashing the code 0000
Also, do you ever play with the throttle pedal BEFORE starting the engine?

I followed a YouTube video and that’s all I can ever get is the 5 flashes
ONLY issue *** when i try to depress my brake peddle it tightened up so much I can’t get it to the floor unless I’m using both feet pushing down hard , guess I’m doing it wrong and should be pushing down gas peddle not the brake peddle !?
Yes the gas pedal, it's just an electrical switch and not actually connected to the engine. The ECM reads the signal from that switch, it's called "pedal dance".
You don't use the brake pedal for anything, pumping multiple times just builds up hydraulic pressure in the brake system.

***UPDATE .. 5 slow flashes then solid check engine light folks means Cylinder 5 is misfiring ! Swapped out a coil pack from the junk yard (free .99) and bingo we are back in bussiness … next task… cabin filter and PCV .. PLUS need to figure out my biggest issue GAS GAUGE from hell… sometimes it reads correctly sometimes it says I have a half tank when I only put 10-15 bucks … any help ?

Fuel gauge read this thread, lots of information. There's pictures for the solder points on the instrument cluster as well as a couple posts I made about testing the sending units.
