Unhappy Dyno = Upset

I dynoed my car and the results wanted to make me throw up ......
I dynoed at 217 hp and 232 tq (only z tube)

Does that sound right or am I one of the unlucky ones ......

A friend of mine dynoed his Srt4 when it was stock and according to some forum he goes to the dyno was 10 hp off .........

The day I dynoed...... my friend with the Srt4 dynoed again (with cold air intake and a complete exhaust system) this time....... and dynoed more then another friend of mine that has a SRT ( CAI, exhaust and stage 1)

Sorry if confusing......

Well regaurdless I think maybe the dyno is off........

What do you guys think .....?

The dyno was deffinately f'd up! The first time I dyno'd it said i had 253hp 272rwtq, with northing but z-tube and pop charger, it happens sometimes. Take it somewhere else you will deffinately see different numbers.

WTF? You wasted you money, bud. Do you have a 5AT or 6mt? It should be 4th gear for auto and 5th gear for six speed. The 20s will affect you dyno numbers too.

The point I was getting at is that DiamondGCoupe's high hp and especially the high torque numbers he's telling you he got were a result of his torque converter slipping. There is NO WAY DiamondGCoupes car got 270+rwtq NA... NO WAY. I'd bet hard earned money that his peak torque happened before 4500 rpms (probably closer to 3000 rpms) which is just his torque converter screwing w/ the dyno, that's all. This was a common phenomenon that we saw at the Central FL Dyno Day with EVERY automatic that ran. Just do an advanced search on the words "torque converter slip" and see what I mean.

If I didn't point this out you might get even MORE upset than you should about your less than impressive numbers. As long as you dynoed 3 or more runs and got consistant numbers, no big deal. Do a few mods and then re-dyno. The G's engine critical tolerances are in the ranges of +/- .0005" and with tolerances that tight, there is not much deviation in output power, maybe +/- 1% from car to car at most.

You could go to California and dyno on the same dyna pack that the SO CAL guys used at their infamous dyno day and probably get 250+ rwhp on your car, bone stock. It all depends on the type of dyno, how it's calibrated, and a zillion other factors.

Happy now?

I agree my numbers were off, it was a ghetto dyno place, they guys that were there looked like they had just woke up and im sure there machine was not properly calibrated. This was not a G meet dyno, lots of random cars were there, i was #52 of 65 to dyno so im sure by then things were way off.

I dynoed at 246.1 on 4th gear on 18" stock rims. Of course I had my hood open and lots and lots of air blowing!
