Worth fixing before selling? Or forget and take what I can get?

Hey folks,

Ready to part ways with my g35 coupe '05. 100k miles. Have a few issues with my ride:

1. Lock actuators are shot for both doors.
2. Plagued by the clear coat paint peeling defect. Tiny bubbles on roof and trunk.
3. Service light engine periodically lights up with P0447 code. Replaced the vent valve but the code still haunts me

Other than that the car is fine. KBB estimates I can get 5k - 7.5k if I sell it privately, but I'm not sure how to adjust the price based on the issues above.

Anyone mind giving me some advice? Thanks for reading.

- H

I'd guess it's going to get you around $3500-4000. The failing paint is the price killer.

You can always start higher and work your way down with the price. Clean it up really pretty and be honest and modest about the issues. Buyers tend to be more open when you don't try to sell perfection. To the right person looking, 4.5k to 5k sounds reasonable. Just my 2 cents.

Take your G to one of those quick paint places and have them color match the roof and trunk. Spend a few days detailing your G (buff/wax) until you'll feel bad about selling it. Have those other issues solved and stick to your maximum price of $7K! Sometimes you have to spend a little to get a lot!

If it's a 6mt you can probably find someone willing to overlook the issues, if it's an auto the paint issues pretty much guarantee bottom dollar

I second what Gary said. Have the paint matched for cheap (if it's a 6MT) because those are typically more sought after and more expensive. If it's an auto I would just cut your losses and be upfront w the buyer

Your paint and code problems are the same as my wife's 05 Maxima problems. The code comes and go like an O2 sensor failing.

Paint codes are in the drivers door jam or under the hood on the right side close to your radiator overflow tank! Codes are easy to match, I've had my front KurumaZ bumper painted several times! Surface sanding and having your trunk and roof painted might cost $300+ by a place like One Day Paint! You just want it to look good until it's out of your driveway and gone! Ask $7,500 and give the buyer a good deal at $7K.
