Engine Swap

I'm thinking about getting a inifiniti g35. I am a college student with a very strict budget and was wondering what is cheap but still a good strong motor that is fast and fun to modify that I could swap the original motor with.

This is an absurd question... You can't swap a motor on a very strict budget. Furthermore, the VQ35 is good strong fast and fun to modify.

maybe very strict was a bad way to put it. i meant that I have certain things to pay for each month that comes before my car. I'm not looking for a crazy expensive motor like a 2jzgte but something that is still fun but just cheaper.

You’ll spend more swapping a motor than you would just modding the VQ to the ****

Not necessarily, the cheapest I ever built a Chevy motor was for under $300 and that was a full rebuild plus cams. There was a LOT of bartering and doing various labor for parts kind of deals and calling in favors but you can definitely build a beast of a motor on a budget if you have things people want and like to trade.

To answer your question, the only really viable build that has readily available parts that you are likely to find is an LS swap. If you are a good welder and can find someone to give you the measurements you can even make the mount adapter plate which is usually an expensive item.

Buy/drive a Honda until you no longer have a very strict budget

There's a very active facebook group LS Z/Gs you could look into joining as well, they've been very open to answering questions and even posting pictures of their setups.

Owning a car with the LS2 I wholeheartedly recommend with an LS swap. The motor's fairly easy to work on and the power possibilities are endless. $2000 bucks will get you well over a hundred HP gain unlike the G which will yield a paltry 30-40 for the same amount of money.
