Hi everyone! I’m in the process of replacing my 2003 g35 coupe’s 6MT engine. Just yesterday I bought a Vq35de that came off an automatic G35. In order to put my pilot bushing and flywheel on the automatic trans engine, it appears that I have to remove a much larger metal bushing. I need help identifying this part and how to remove it.
This pic below shows my original engine with the pilot bushing removed.
This pic below shows the larger metal bushing that sticks out much more which is used to support the flex plate.
I tried using the same puller that I used to remove my pilot bushing but it did not grab the’ AT bushing’ very well.
Your help is greatly appreciated! I know this has been done before and that it’s possible!
Grease and a punch that fits snugly into the hole in the middle. Pack it full of grease and give the punch a few whacks and it hydraulically forces the bushing out.
