Are they related? Problem just started happening a week ago.

No check engine light but I will try to run a code today

Possibly related since they both go through the clockswitch (spiral cable switch) which is located in the steering wheel. Have someone pull the airbag code and if it is for the driver main airbag then that's likely the culprit.

Be sure to read up on how to properly replace it or you can end up with a steering angle sensor issue.
