The worst of all was the "what are splash guards" post the other day.

I wonder if there is a way to have a search function on key words... I know when I do a search, I am always frustrated with the results... Maybe its because of posts like this.... Too much garbage, and not enough substance...

Hmmm. I think the burnout post was pretty bad. Anyway, I agree with this post but I just think some folks are having fun and some are too sensitive. This site has been a big help for me.

People come to the board seeking help from the ones that have the answers, but also for some degree of interaction. In the end... reposts are just a temporary pain in the ***, douchebags thinking they need to regulate what is acceptable and pruning the board of its new members is a permanent problem.
Hey douchebag, I'll answer the question if it is straightforward, like "just bought a G, funny smell from engine (see today's sedan forum)", but other questions have a lot of variables and opinions like "which intake is best?".
It's the same for all forums...when I join a new one, I don't start asking questions, I do some searches and most of the time I find what I need. If I still have questions, i'll post it. It comes down to newb's expecting instant gratification w/ no effort.

It's just not fair! Everyone else had to use the search button.

The coupe forum pops up every 6 months or so as a major thorn in our collective side. Every 6 months or so, we crack down on the topics posted and ride it hard until it becomes civil again, but that takes a LOT of work. There are over 2,000 new posts a day on this forum. 2,000. That means the mods and admins have to go through as much as we can, and we rely heavily on people alerting us to problems before they become huge issues. Instead of flaming someone in an out-of-control thread, PM a mod or admin, and we'll take care of it.

With every new model year comes a new group of members. People flood in at this time of year, then again at the end-of-the-year clearances. Same old questions, and hardly anyone runs a search. I personally believe we should incorporate an IQ test into the registration process.

i think what makes this board tough from the start is the huge difference in backgrounds this board caters to. we have guys from 18 to and beyond 40 (no offense). we also have ppl who've heavily modified their car to ppl who've just bought their car. we have ppl who race and ppl who hate racing.

i think everyone just has to realize this and not bash the other view points.

i felt bad for the kid who posted up lambo doors and got flamed like crazy. i mean i'm not saying i like lambo doors but that was just wrong because some ppl had thought that was the ugliest idea.

i also like the posts where older ppl are looking for younger kids to admit that they are spoiled. then tons of 18 yr olds write in saying they've saved up since middle school or running like 3 jobs.

can't we all just smile at eachother as we drive by? personally, i really like to see other g35's on the road because honestly that's the only time i get to see one move. unless i'm next to a big glass window. =)

this post might already be obvious to everyone and i could get flamed but last time i checked this board wasn't for the know-it-all experts.

and newbies, don't be lazy and do the searches!

You want strict moderators and/or administrators? Go to Fresh Alloy...

I'm not a fan of the repetitious noobie posts either, but I'm not going to make another useless post about how hard it is sifting thru them. For every one retarded thread about doing it in a G, there are many many others that contribute a lot to the board. You cant expect the mods to approve all threads that are posted. And if they do, as soon as they lock a thread or delete it, another pops up about how mad that person is and shame on the mods for exercising their power bla bla bla.... but who cares. Your letting the tool boxes win if you complain about stupid threads. You only have yourself to blame if you let a free internet site full of typed words get to you.

Put your energy into something productive, like how the board has improved in the last year (it really has), or how the mods have done a great job, etc etc rather than biitching about people being able to exercise their right to post what they want. You said, it seems like the soap opera drama lovers (or those coming out of the closet about drama) are ransacking the boards with pointless threads.... your creating a soap opera with this thread!

Let me just drop in my .02 here. I agree with the notion that the mods have to take care of something. You visit other high-traffic forum websites (i.e. FatWallet), if someone posts something that has already been posted, mods lock the thread and link back to the original post. Whats happening now is since that doesn't happen, people keep bumping up the same thread and it stays alive for entirely way too long.

Now I understand doing this takes time and we all have lives. Hell, I spend enough time on this board already, I will volunteer myself to become a Mod. and help out where I can. I think this in itself would clear out a lot of the unnecessary posts and definitely make the site more pleasing to visit.
