I bought this 2004 G35 Coupe in April this year. It was in mint condition in and out with just 31,000 actual miles. The owner inherited it from her brother and could never bring herself to sell it. Plus she spends 1/2 her year living in Florida and the car was here in Tennessee. I had previously had a 2012 G37, and although that car was quicker, the G35 has a beautiful growl to the exhaust that I love and the car handles beautifully.
However, over the last few months I i've come to see this 2004 has a rough ride. Road bumps are felt very much.
Although the Michellan tires only have 8,000 miles on them, they are going on 7 years old. I'm wondering if the age of the tires, even though garaged, may contribute to that rough ride?
They have plenty of tread but I've heard that the rubber can age?
Before I buy new tires or shocks, I want to see o=if some of you can give me some ideas. Here are some picks of this gorgeous car.
I love the way the coupes look in white. Very clean ride, 31k miles is incredibly low for a 2004!
Tires can make a huge difference in ride quality and road noise. Over time the rubber can get dry and brittle, and their performance deteriorates significantly. I've noticed that Michelins tend to crack when they get older.
Looks like your G has the sport package (factory 18" wheels), so that will sacrifice some ride quality. If your struts/shocks aren't leaking, they are probably okay.
