Hey all,
I did some research online and found some pages and videos that cover fixes for the B1129 flashing airbag light warning:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...44443-3500.pdf
I am going to attempt to clean and reattach the connector to see if that fixes the issue. Was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this fix. More specifically:
1. Has any one had any (long term) success with the repair? From what I gather, making sure that the connectors contacts are clean help ensure to prevent an open circuit. I was going to grab some electrical contact cleaner to clean the SAB connector to see if that helps.
2. Did anyone find out what type of tape is used to wrap the connector? I'm guessing its used to insulate the connector from dust, moisture, etc. In the TSB, it's listed as P/N "24828 – AM00A". I was unable to find any info on what type of tape this is.

The tape is just to keep the wires from wiggling around separately from the harness, 3M 130C will work fine. It's super stretchy, pull it until it's stretched out to about 2/3 the original width and wrap around with the ADHESIVE SIDE OUT, this will make life much better if you have to get into this connector again in the future since it prevents everything underneath from being covered in sticky goo from the tape.
EDIT: The main failure point for this harness was the wires bouncing around and breaking right at the connector. The whole point is to basically fuse the wires together as a solid mass so nothing can move. Yes it works, if your wires are already broken though you will need to repin the harness or something along those lines. If you can self-clear the diagnostic code right now and have it stay off for a couple days then yes this will probably work for you. If you self clear the code and it immediately pops back up you probably have a broken wire that needs to be fixed.
Wiring diagram is in the FSM under section SRS - Supplemental Restraint System in case you need to ring out wires to see if they're broken.

Thanks! I'll have to remove the seat to inspect the connector to see if there are any broken wires. The light seems to be coming back in after a day or two after I clear the code. The first time I cleared it, it went for ac couple months without popping back up.

A good visual check of how the wires are crimped into the harness pins will be ok probably, contact cleaner both ends and put it all back together If you want an added layer of future proofing put a tiny bit of deox on the female side of the pins like how the manufacturer does with damp location harnesses.

Ohh and make sure your contact cleaner says SAFE FOR PLASTIC on the can, I've seen people melt harnesses before by using the wrong contact cleaner.
