Aux Interface by Grom Audio (satellite)

(2004 automatic)
First off, i really enjoy this mod (when it works of course), but it's finally time to sort out some little issues i'm having. I'll bullet-point them:
- After installing it, i noticed that the head unit no longer turns on automatically when the car starts. I think it does sometimes, but most of the time no. That's fine with me though
- When the head unit is on, it will default to the radio. That is usually how i know when the satellite option isn't working. when i press the button it says "No Sat"
- 5-10 minutes into driving and/or after fidgeting with the power button or wires, without much rhyme or reason it will eventually come on by itself and i will see the default satellite option. Then i'll be able to hear sound coming in from the bluetooth.

Anyone have a similar experience with that? I have an idea of where to start to address this, but i figured i'd stop and check with the community first. Let me know if there's other info that could help fill in any gaps in detail of the story. (pics coming)

That sounds exactly like a loose wire / intermittent connection.

right? i guess i have to go through them one by one and see. maybe it's a better scenario that there's a loose wire rather than all wires being fine, but having to route some kind of separate power/trigger line, which would be a bigger pain in the ***. i try that and report back. And driving it today I noticed that even after it kicks on after leaving my home, if i turn the ignition off for a while and then come back to the car, we're back to square one waiting for the SAT to kick in again.

That actually sounds like a failing capacitor in some component.

Update: after some resetting via unplugging and plugging back in again a few times, it seems like this is the longest i've went without issue. I think it's safe to say it's fixed and i can go ahead and put the elbow/shifter console part back now.
