Lowering springs vs entry level coilovers

Hey guys,

is there a difference between Tein lowering springs vs Rev9 street coilovers?

I'm talking about handling, smoothness and ride quality.

Mods, can you move the thread if it's posted in the wrong section. Cheers!

I don't know much about Rev9 but the spring rates are really stiff at 14k front and 12k rear. Street ride is not gonna be fun on those rates. I'm running 10k front / 8k rear on BC coils and probably going to 8k front and 6k rear for better ride.

Yeah i have springs right now, but i'm thinking coilovers (entry level) My ride is very harsh with springs and i am thinking it'll be a bit better with coilovers as you can adjust dampers.

Adjustable damping on shocks isn't going to smooth out incredibly harsh springs.

So i'm just gonna bite the bullet and buy BC Racing BR Series Coilovers. I am just tired of going through every bump that makes me feel like i have arthritis.

BC makes good coilovers right? When i searched up good coilovers, BC was second best right after Yonaka.

The factory is 314 front 427 rear for the revised spring rates.

I used to run the Nismo S tun and they were 450/500 and that was VERY harsh for a daily driver. Awesome on the track though.

I'm showing that those coilovers with the non-true coilover style (uses a separate spring for the rear and keeps the rear spring perch) is 450/550. I don't know what your current spring rates are but try to find that out and compare against what you're looking to buy.

I don't think I've ever sat in a car with a set of coilovers that actually felt comfortable, they typically will have a very very high spring rate for the folks that are looking for a significant drop.

How much of a drop compared to stock are you wanting?

I ended up purchasing Raceland classic coilovers.I have Tein lowering sprigs right now (front 212 rears 162) I needed shocks and shocks were pretty pricey, so i ended up purchasing Raceland coilovers (700 fronts 400 rears) with a 1-3 inches adjustment. I think the factory rear is 342 not 427 on 2003 with 17's and 18's (correct me if i am wrong)

Yeah 342 is the unrevised rear spring.

Eibach sportlines on a 07 g35 coupe worked out perfect for my suspension.

Got about 2.3” in the front and 2.0” in the rear also did a complete front end poly bushing overhaul on the front end. Eibach sportlines model number 4.6463 originally for 350z but someone mentioned it was a lower drop with the 350z eibach kit the then g35 kit! Oh and reused the stock g35 sport strut. Came out awesome, rides great!
