i dont get why datsun was brought up... no ones rebadging to datsun so whos the moron who brought it up.... skyline is how it actually looks in japan, not datsun.

theres nothing wrong with rebadging, as long as the owner likes the look more. its the same as a body kit, some people like the look, some people dont. why would you flame people that do it? personally i didnt like the big bold letters INFINITI across my back. skyline looks better but this is just personal taste. its just like the guys up there who like the naked look

about the respect issue, you cant deny that skyline arouses more mystery and respect as well as turns more heads than "g35". even the naked look does, basically anything besides stock will turn more heads but especially skyline

however, imo if you do rebadge you have to do the nissan too or else youre calling it an infiniti skyline which is odd.

I don't buy that argument. I don't think your basic yahoo on the street even knows what a Skyline is. The people that do know what a Skyline is are probably the same people that would be able to easily identify your car as a re-badged Infiniti. So then where is the head turning respect coming from?

I have no problem with people debadging their cars and making it so "JDM" conversion...but lets get it right.

IF you like your car so much as a JDM car do the damn conversion right.
I see too many people that put "350gt" but leave infiniti.

Do the front Grill Emblem, Rear Emblem, Rear Letters, Side Sills, Steering Wheel Badge. If you're going to do it...I say do it right. If you're not going to do it right....leave it Infiniti.

The Nissan 350gt skyline is the same as the Infiniti G35.....the Infiniti G35 is the same as the Nissan 350gt skyline. Same car....So weather people do the JDM conversion or not it shouldn't matter. I'm just saying if you're going to do it...do it right. That's the thing that annoys me the most.

Some people do a completel conversion...others just replace the "G35" with "350GT" .... that's just stupid.

Um, I think we are also forgetting that we are also getting (IMHO) wayyy better service from the Infinti dealers compared to any Nissan dealer (trust me, I had a Nissan for years, and tried many dealers).

Simply put, if Infiniti existed in Japan, they would be badged as Inifiti's and none of this "JDM" rebadging stuff would exist.

IMHO It's obvious that people rebadge to try to grab some of the R3X skyline glory...since it is such a coveted car in the United States (due to very difficult importing problems).

Might as well throw in the "to each his own" thing here as well...since I figure you should do whatever makes you happy abotu your car.

I agree with you and you should be confused. First off you could not fit an "escalade grill in an S-10 if you wanted too.
I'm pretty sure they're just terrible copies slapped into place on the front end. I've never wanted to get close enough to inspect what the hell they did. Gross.

BASE ACURA TLX NOW WANT A G35 AGAIN THOUGH
damn this arguement never stops does it...oh well...

i'm one of those morons who re-badged the grille, the trunk and the nissan logo and nismo plate frame...

call me a moron lol who isn't one in this day and age
call me a ricer - ok at 32 hell it's my ride - i go whatever -
call me whatever the hell you want when you see me in my ride -

either way you see it, the G35 and the SKYLINES are all from JAPAN straight up!
only in america and canada was it changed to the G35 for "MARKETING" reasons.

look at Acura - they used to have the LEGEND right..but for marketing purposes and to make it sound more "LUXURIOUS" - the 2nd generation legend was re-badged - 3.5RL - What the heck...LEGEND sounded better I owned 1 before and a 1991 Integra GS sedan...

Happy Easter!

This is somewhat ridiculous. Rebadging isn't much different from customization of any other kind. You know, grilles, exhausts, etc. It's a way of redefining your ride to your own taste. And yes, the SKYLINE name is a wonderful part of our heritage. And NISSAN is great as well. I haven't rebadged or debadged my INFINITI G35, but if I did, I might even put my own name on it just like my license plate. Anyone got a problem with that? Anyway, everyone has their own reasons and their own likes and dislikes and that is why some of us choose to do things that others do not. (Man, am I ever the diplomat!) And oh yeah,.....I BUILD NISSAN'S AND INFINITIS!!!! AS A MATTER OF FACT, I AM POSTING THIS FROM INSIDE A NISSAN PLANT RIGHT NOW!

Hmmm....I love this thread....Ok, so now we are going to get an Infiniti Skyline...heheh. You can bet the house that when the GT-R shows up here it will not be a Nissan, but an Infiniti.

Here is the article inside...
The first line of the article reads " Anyone who reads this magazine knows that the current Skyline is sold here as the G35 coupe..."

I rebadged my ride to skyline since I used to own one when I lived in japan. I know it's the exact same car in japan with the exception of the steering wheel on the right side and a few interior things. If you pop your hood and look at your vin plate from the factory on the left side ( I know mine does) it says nissan not infinti. I don't see any problem with rebadging, but I do get alot of questions asking if it's real or not since mostly everyone knows about the GTR. I tell them it's a G35, but it is exactly the same in japan. The last pic is my old ride a skyline GTS25-T single turbo.
