In stock form the top end IS weak. What I mean by top end is RPM above 5K, not necessarily a 100+ MPH speed. I found that making the intake side of the engine less restrictive seems to help the top end quite a bit.

With the first dyno of my car, the engine is strong up to 5K, but from 5K RPM to 6000+ RPM it only gains 10HP. Again, the engine still makes more HP, but the slope of the curve is much flatter at that point.

Here is the last dyno I had when I was comparing a plenum to a plenum spacer. I had done plenty of polishing and porting on the intake side of the engine. The engine is still making good power above 5K. This was on a dynapack, so the absolute numbers are higher.

Not to disagree with you, but I don't see the loss of hp to be anywhere close to that of the Maxima after 5,700, or all that drastic at all. I agree with MrElussive that the VQ in the G is a high revving engine, my Maxima is nothing like it above 3.5k rpm.

It was a 1/4" spacer. I'm also running a Crawford V5 plenum now, so there's not much space in there.

So a 1/4" spacer yields about 5-7 hp MORE than a Crawford plenum? Good gravy, what would a 1/2" one do? I'm sold. Crawford plenums sound pretty much obsolete.
