People coming from Audi, BMW, Merc

How do you feel about this car? I personally am coming from an Audi and I love the way the G drives, even handles without Quattro, but the squeaks and rattles are more than I expected, even though I did my homework and knew there would be some. Overall I love the power upgrade from my A4 and I think when I am done it will also look better.

Just curious of other's thoughts coming from a nice solid car (Euro specifically) into a sportier Japanese make that has some more little quirks.

Well, I didn't really have a Euro car before my G35c, but my fiance has a C240 and I drive it one in awhile. Performance wise, it's unmatched. Her car is similarly priced as my G35c too but it doesn't even have a CD player. However, the interior is much better than the G35 in term of material/fit and finish. There's just too many hard plastic in the G. Even the M35/45 has more hard plastic than the C240. The turning diameter is much smaller on the C240 too. The seat is more firm but due to its firmness, it doesn't have as much wrinkle in the leather as the G. Overall, if interior rank high on your list, then the G is not the top contender. While if performance and value is high on your list, then it should be at the top. Her sister has the 05 coupe and the interior is still no where near the C240. I wish they would seriously upgrade the interior and raise the price maybe $1k-$3k more would be fine w/ me. The 05 to me is a good try but still miss the mark by a mile. After all, that's still much cheaper than any German in its class.

g35 interior cant even compare to that of bmw, mb, audi etc. i do agree there is too much cheap looking plastic and rattles in the cabin. the 05 worked out a lot of the problems but than again u would have to pay a considerable amount more for a better interior, ie an 04 330ci is about 7k more for all of the same options as the g. performance on the other hand is a whole different story, which is y im glad i purchased the g.

What is it about the C240 interior that's crappy? I would love to see you point something out about the interior quality that's worse than the G35. Be a little more specific please. I can hardly find any hard plastic in the C240 while the G35 has plenty.
I bought my G for its performance and look, not the interior. huducks, i know that it'll cost more for better interior, that's why I said I wouldn't mind paying as much as $3k more more interior that's up to par w/ the Germans and Lexus. Even w/ $3k more, it'll still be $4k under BMW.

went from the BMW X5 to the G35x. the overall feeling of driving a BMW, from the way the door shuts to the sound when you start it up is like nothing else. ive drove Audis and Mercedes’ and though both of them have superior interior quality i don’t think its on BMWs level. just a personal opinion.

I still love my g and am very happy with the interior quality and handling.

You guys need to check out the '05s interior with the real aluminum console, no plastic rattles in it. You would be surprised.

I did, and it didn't really impress me much, that's why I end up buying the 04.5. The interior didn't really improve enough to justify the loss of brembo. There's still too many hard plastic. For example, the center console (around the shifter and cup holder area) and the doors.

i have a 05 coupe and do not have any problems with rattles/squeaks. i think the interior looks much better than the previous models. i had a 03 coupe previously which had a really plastic-filled interior. however, with the new 05 interior, it has the same amount of plastic as any other luxury car (e.g. in the center console/armrest area, part of the door panel, etc.). for the above post, i don't understand the qualms about the plastic around the cup holder and door panel. from what i see, EVERY car has plastic in those areas. i have yet to see a all metal door panel or all metal center console!!!

I'm comparing it to the C240, and in the C240, those area feels like leather. The very bottom part of the door is cloth like material. Maybe it's plastic underneath, but it's wrap by either cloth or leather. I think the only plastic I noticed on the C240 was the handle bar on the door.

I will be ordering a G35 Coupe 6MT that will replace my Audi S4 lease. I have spent countless days test driving the G35. The interior is not that bad. True, the materials are not Audi grade but the fit and finish and touch is pretty good and solid. The G does drive and handle better than the S4.

In regards to the C240, MB has made some vast improvements for MY2005. MB has been plagued with quality bugs for a very long time.

My fiance's C240 is 2001 or 2002 C240. The only problem she ever had w/ that car was headlight bulb burnt out once. That was it.

C240 is the lowest u can get in the MB line up, how good can it get? its definatly not better then the E-Class, i doubt u actually have leather wrap interior. i just got a chance to see the 05 C320 Elegance the other day, the interior "looks" expensive, but when u start feeling the panels, it felt cheap.

my dad have the E500 Sport, which is suppose to have better material, such as more leather used to wrap more plastic parts then the classic and elegance, and its still not even comparable to the M45, the fit and finish on the infinitis are still much better. hell the wood trim and the dash trim doesnt even line up properly on the E500.

mercedes quality have gone downhill since they merged with chrysler. my dad's last gen E320 had much better interior then the new one.

BMWs on the otherhand have a much higher quality interior.

and i dont see how hard plastic makes the car cheap. as long as the fit and finish is great then its all good.

no matter how much leather u put in or soft plastic, if the fit and finish suck, ur interior still suck.

and i dont see how lexus interior is better then Infiniti or Acura. the overall quality of Lexus is just on par with the japanese made Infiniti or Acuras. (the american made ones still suck, on every brand)

I am coming from an Audi A4 to the G. (Although I still have the Audi, cant let it go).
Let me start of by saying both cars are very different. I am just sharing my own opinions.

Interior: Hands down the Audi wins. There are many issues with the G. Quality being a big one. But I love the sung fitting of the seats.

Handling: As for the quattro, I dont think anything can compete with an AWD system. Its very seasoned. The back of the G gives way and the car wobbles on hard acceleration, this is probably due the immense power given to the back wheels. But however the stability and control of the Audi out does the G. I feel much safer taking a hard corner in the Audi than the G.

Power/Acceleration: The G will leave my Audi A4 in the dust. The thrill you get is incredible.

Service: Audi has worry free maintaince and warranty for 4yrs/50K miles. So till now I have not paid a dollar on any service. Even oil changes are included. Infiniti needs to up the ante here.

Reliablilty: I would give it to the G, however I have had it for just over a month. But from what I read and others opinions. I think the Infi brand will hold better than the Audi brand. Probably the reason why the G has a great resale value.

Exterior: I love the new bold designs. But I would give an even score to both my cars here.

I am not intending to give points here, but again just my personal experience. I can't assign a weighted score to each category.

In short I love both my cars. Maybe in a years time, once I have completed tested the G, I would be in a better situation to tell everyone that if I have to choose one of them, which would I choose!!
