VCS........what is it and does it work?
i read the manual about the VCS on the bose stereo's but i forgot what it does. is it something like the stereo volume increases with engine speed/noise? i dont think it does much or works very well. one of my friends had a convertible vette and on that stereo u could definitely hear the stereo get louder with speed. any comments?

SVC: Speed-sensitive Volume Control
This is standard on many stereos these days, I always keep it on High, because there is lots of road noise where i drive and plus i have the 18's.
The faster you drive, the louder the radio volume gets AUTOMATICALLY to compensate for the increased wind noise and road noise at higher speeds.

It won't blow your speakers bro. All SVC does is maintain a volume for you. When you speed up it increases the volume slightly to overcome road, and wind noises. Conversely, when you slow, it decreases volume (slightly). Those changes aren't big ones, just enough to compensate for speed diffs.
I keep mine on MID and it seems sufficient.

For whatever reason, I've found that if you set it on "high", you get better / stronger / louder sound at high volumes / max volume.
Probably just in my mind, but I leave it on high. I haven't really noticed any real difference, other than how it sounds at full volume though.

at times you can tell as you slow down the car.. Other times you wonder is it really working...

The idea is you're not supposed to notice it..it's supposed to raise the volume just enough to overcome extra road noise, and lower it back down when you slow down. If it's set just right, you won't notice it much, and you won't notice it extra road noise at speed, either.

Press the audio button.. it'll cycle through letting you adjust the Bass, Treble, Balance, Fade, and SCV. You can set the SCV to Off, Low, Mid (Med?), or High.
