Insurance rates compared to the Z

Anyone know how the G compares to the Z in the insurance department? I checked progressive and it looks to be 300 or so more a year? Sound about right?

I was thinking about an 05 Mustang GT at one point, and the insurance on the 05 G35 ended up being about 100$ cheaper per 6 months. I am paying 750$ every 6 months through progressive (21 year old male).

for me in NJ it was around 1/3 to 1/2 more then the quote for the G35.

the G with 500 deductables is $1950 a year... so figure around $3200 for the Z that has two less seats . hell with two less seats shouldnt insurance be cheaper ???!?!?!?

ppp

Mine went up around 20-25% when I changed over to a Z from a G35C. The G35 is definetely in a cheaper bracket.

I've heard that the 350Z is considered a "sports car" by insurance companies and therefore insurance rates are higher compared to a G35 which is considered a "luxury coupe".. go figure

Just did some [not so] quick quotes..

350Z: $356 more a year than G35 Coupe
G35 Sedan: $66 less a year than G35 Coupe -- I found the small diffeence a tad surprising..

I would figure the sedan to be a bit cheaper than just $66.

Throw all your pennies in the same pot, I get all my coverage for my cars, boat, other toys, house and so on from the same company so I end up saving a lot compared to spreading it all out.

$66 is actually a lot, being that I'm paying quite a hefty amount for insurance compared to most of you guys. For you it may be much less than 66.

Yeah, the insurance on the G is not bad at all.

When I sold my 2001 CLS for the 2004 G my insurance actually went down by 50$.

Funny thing is, my wife's 98 Integra coupe costs alomst 150$ more per year than my car--and she hasn't had a single accident/ticket EVER.

Crazy.

I was more shocked when I bought my Wife's 05' TL.
Insurance on her car is about $700 more per year than my 04' coupe
Even the 03' TL we traded in was ~$400 more per year than my coupe.

I was pretty surprised to find out the G cost half of what my M3 did in NJ.

M3 = 2275 year
G = 1100 year

FWIW, the dealerships love to tell you how it's the same engine as the Z but that it's much less expensive to insure due to the rear seats. Must be a talking point or something...
