Vibration on stick

Newb question. Just test drived a 6MT '05 coupe and felt some vibration on the stick when driving. Dealer said this is normal for a "sports" car and that the previous manual experience I had (Supra, BMW 330) are not... Is it true that the vibration on the stick is normal?

I have a 5AT... and on idle I can feel vibrations on the shift ****.

My 03 6mt coupe had vibration transmitted thru the shifter. It was really present in 6th cruising on the freeway. But after a few thousand miles and everything broke in, it's greatly reduced. If your used to front wheel drive cars, there's alot of linkage from the transaxle to the shifter. With the G's front/mid engine longitudinal transmission there's not as much linkage to the shifter, and this layout will have more vibration in shifter feel. Thats part of the fun in a manual trans, your more in tune with the workings of the car!

IMO, it's not normal. the G/Z is the only car that had this and (I know it's really picky, but...) I almost didn't get the car b/c of this. I really dislike it. There has to be something we can do to isolate the shifter slightly so that you don't feel it vibrate like that. I've never noticed any other quality car I've ever driven shake to the extent of this one.

My corvette nor porsche do that. I got my G in an auto though. Or maybe the corvette does do it come to think of it, but then again its a chevy. Just about everything in the car vibrates/rattles

I dunno. Seems pretty normal to me. Both my Z-24's did it, my wife's Eclipse GSX did it, my WRX did, and the Evo I test drove did it.

Maybe it depends on the car? Or maybe Porsche and BMW have figured out to isolate the shifter?

For the G, it's normal. However, if you're properly driving a manual, you should have both hands on the wheel and only touching the stick when shifting.

The G35 is throttle by wire - you're not going to pick up engine vibrations in that pedal.

What you will feel is the slight vibration of the motor in the clutch pedal

The stick vibrations were questioned before so I think it's common for our cars. I really got used to it now and like others have said it helps to feel the car. I enjoy it, but I used to take the hand off sometimes to make sure nothing else shakes and vibrates.
