something wrong with my xm sat radio antenna

i had my dealership installed the xm radio two months ago and today i noticed something. well, not a big problem just that the rubber part of the antenna which supposed to seal with the roof perfectly now has some wrinkles. i think the perfect seal has been broken due to the recent raining season in socal, but the antenna still holds very steady on top of the roof. does this worth a trip back to the dealership?

I don't know anything about these antennas, but if they puncture your roof to put the wire through, and you think the seal is faulty, you need to get it checked right away. Any water that gets in will start rust and get in the car and wet the headliner. If I'm wrong, someone tell me. I've always worried about holes put in cars; maybe they're better at it now.

yeah, i'm taking it to the dealership on friday. i think(correct me if i'm wrong) they just drilled some holes on the roof to set the antenna stable, antenna's wires are connected with the printed antenna on the rear window.

"they just drilled some holes on the roof"
That's the part that worries me. I've not seen how it is done, but I figured they must have put at least one hole to attach it to the roof and to put the wire through. The antenna wires on my sedan (no sat.) are on the inside of the window. I confess full ignorance of the facts, but I think it involves drilling.

Anyone with actual knowledge of the technique?

The antenna is held on by double sided tape. The wire is routed around the rear window and into the trunk. No holes are drilled.

Thank goodness!!!! I'm glad I was wrong. It might even encourage me to get one some day. I really didn't want a hole in my roof. My apologies if I scared anyone. On the other hand, if it is beginning to loosen, it would be good to get it re-attached before it becomes a 65 mph missle.

thanks, the wrinkle areas are around the area leading up to the rear window not the hard plastic cover.

The wire runs under the seal accross the roof and down the rear window pillar into the trunk. A large magnet and double sided tape holds the antenna down. The rubber does not hold anything. I wouldn't worry about it falling off, but if you don't like how it looks go ahead and ask them to fix it.
