Tint
Tint
Just put my clear corners, z tube and aluminum pedals in, and now i want to tint the windows. In your opinion, whats the best %? I know this is all opinionated, but I was just wondering if i could get some feedback from some people that have it (and what %) and whether they like it or not. Also, how much $$$ does it cost (just general range).
Thanks!

I only tinted the back 3 windows of my car, but i did them with a 15% tint; it looks really nice with the black of the car. I got it done for about 100 bucks at the most professional place i could find. I live in Fresno, CA btw
cool, i'm thinking about doing all of the windows (except the windshield, obviously) but I am not sure how much i should tint (i am really new to this). Also, one dumb question, the lower the % the darker it is, right? So 15% is darker than say, 35%?

Yup, yup....lower % means darker tint (aka less light transmitted). I went with 40% Huper Optik. I wanted a subtle and classy look...plus I wanted people to see who was behind the wheel of the badest car under $40k.
At night (and overcast days), the tint looks considerably darker. Good luck in your search.

if your car has a black inside like mine; i really dont need a tint on the driver and passenger side windows because the sun just reflects the black of my seats onto the window so it just looks like its tinted. And for your other question the lower the % means the less light will be let in; i think it goes like if you want a limo tint which is 5% that means that it only lets 5% of the light into your car. I dont know about the laws in wherever you are but here in Fresno the cops are really tough on tinting the front windows... just my 2 cents
Ok i have researched it a little bit--and since i live in missouri, the state requires to have at least 35% light for the front windows. This is dissapointed, because i want to go darker than 35%. If i take my car to a shop, will they be able to go lower than 35% (even though it is illegal) if i tell them to? I know i have seen many people on the forum with 15%, 20%, 25% tint, so i am just wondering how you were able to do it.

i think that you will be able to do it, but i wouldnt really reccomend those places that do it, if they are willing to do those kinds of illegal things than maybe they arent as professional as you thought. But go and see the place, if it is clean and everythign checks out go for it. PM me if you need anything else

Hey, can you guys post pics with your tints of just the backs? I was wondering how that would look. I was thinking about doing 35% front and 15% back and rear, but I dont want too dark in the fronts. Im allready in a hot looking car, and no front plate + tints would equal a nice ticket.

this is %40 all the way around

Legal is %35, they will give you a receipt if you want non-legal.
The receipt will have a checkmark in the % and next to it will be "NOT LEGAL"

It seems most places will do it under the legal %....but they may make you sign a release form (stating that they aren't taking responsibility if you get a ticket...or something happens). I got mine tinted (40% ceramic also) and had to sign something like that, cause front tint is not allowed in CA. And to give you an idea for ceramic...the costs run anywhere from $300-$500.
just becareful if you get stopped by the cop (for some other reason like speeding
). they will usually cut through the tint to make sure that you get rid of it. one trick though is that when you get stopped, roll your windows down immediately, so the cop doesn't see the tint on the window.

Another trick, which I have not tested but heard it sometimes work, is act politelly and say you are a transfer student and got the car used with the tints and that u had no idea that they were illegal.
