Speed & RPM

For you guys with a 6MT I'm trying to get an idea of what RPMs you guys are at during different gears and speed. Right now when I'm in 6th @80mph, the rpm is 3k. In my 2001 auto Maxima, the rpm is only 2.7k at that speed. I always though the 6th gear will allow you to cruise at lower RPMs to save gas? What are normal RPMs for the speeds listed below if you're just taking it easy on the car/gas mileage.

For example:
3rd @ 30mph ~ ___rpm
4th @ 40mph ~ ___rpm
5th @ 60mph ~ ___rpm
6th @ 80mph ~ ___rpm

In 6th @ 80mph, I think I'm at 3k rpm. Don't worry, your car is normal.

5700 rpms in 6 gear is 156mph....remove the limiter the if the car can get to 6600 rpms in 6th that is 181 mph....might need a few hits of nos to get it there ....othere wise you'd probably run out of road

Your Maxima is a 4AT, has 2 gears less than the G and the gears are MUCH longer, hence the lower RPM. If you've noticed, you have to step very heavily on the gas in your Maxima to rev it up to 3k in 1st. The G on the other hand loves to rev high and does it almost effortlessly. I can do that test for you in both my Max and G and can tell you the results, but I'm sure you can do that yourself. It's just different gearing between the two cars, that's all.

Are you a maxima.org member btw?

Thanks for the replies. I was just curious of the gearing on the 6MT as I thought it would result in lower rpms in 6th gear.
