Sigh!!! I walked out to my "secured" parking area yesterday morning at about 6:30 a.m. and my 3 week old, Lakeshore Slate on Stone 6MT Coupe was gone!! I called around for about an hour to make sure it wasn't towed and sure enough, nothing. The problem is that I hadn't even received my permanent plates yet so my temporary tag was still in the back window. If anyone in Vancouver, BC sees a new 6MT like this email me at jotowen@yahoo.com or call the Vancouver PD at 604-717-3321. This color combination,(basically blue/grey on light grey leather), is not common, from what I've seen. I live in Seattle but am visiting here for several days.

What sux is that my Infiniti dealer says to order the replacement means a wait of about three months and my insurance company, Safeco, says it will take about a month for this to get cleared up if it is not found. How easy or hard is it to steal a G35?

Thanks, all. I had to vent and get the word out.

Joe

Wow dude, that sucks!! I believe the car has a chip in the key that prevents a regular copied key from starting the car, but if they break a window and get inside, they can put the car in neutral and pull it onto a flatbed truck and take it away.

It's ghetto but effective...big *** chain around the steering wheel and clutch. I use to do it on my BMW.

Or just a good alarm.

what exactly do you mean by "secured" parking lot? are there gates at the entrances? can tow trucks enter and leave without a pass or key? with the chip immobilizer, the only way they can steal the car is by towing it. ask your neighbors to see if anyone saw a tow truck on the night the car was stolen.

Sorry to hear bout your G being stolen, but I have said it more often that it ain't even funny. I had this device added at my dealership when I purchased my G. It's simular to On-Star or Low Jack, but with this system you can log onto the internet from anywhere and locate your car in REAL-TIME. You would contact them and explaine your vehicle was stolen and believe me they will locate it in minutes. They won't even know it's there.... You could probally go over to were it's at and Beat some *** too.

P.S. Yes it can locate even if the car is inside a garage, I check my car daily jus for kicks.

Yeah, I was told about the "chip" in the key but maybe the pros have found a way around it.

By "secured" I mean you need an access code to get in the gate however it is one of those situations where you do NOT need to code to exit so perhaps someone followed a car as it entered and just helped themselves and drove out. There is video surveilance so maybe it was caught on tape. I'm waiting for the building manager to get back to me on that.

I like the idea of "Networkcar.com". I'll seriously look into that if I get it back. If I don't get it back I'm definitely getting the same one as a replacement. Man, this sux. I REALLY loved that car.

sorry to hear what happened... i went through hell last november when i had 2 cars stolen myself. i hate to say this... but your car is probably long gone. vancouver has many ports and was probably shipped out somewhere. it hurts hearing stories like this because i know what your going through. i hope insurance at least hooks u up with a rental till the day the new car is picked up... this didn't happen to my wife and i. we were basically left in the cold by insurance after they settled. good luck and all the best.

ps. screw the alarm and go with a tracking system. i now have boomerang (canadian company) on both my cars, and it puts my mind at ease.

Yea it's called micro Chip. You can just call the dealership and ask for the number. They can find your Car in minutes...before it gets stripped. It's in every 05 Infiniti comes standard. the dealership install's it before you leave the parking...Trust me you can get your car in the next hour....call NOW...

since the lot has a video camera, i would think there would be video of the entrance. from there, it would be easy to see if a tow trunk entered the lot on that night. good luck and keep us updated!!

I heard that it was actually easy to bybass the chip in the key. From my understanding that if you dismantle/detatch the ignition and reset the ecu/disconnect the battery when you reattach the battery the ecu will reboot skipping the chip sensor in the ingnition since there is no signal......install any other kind of ignition device.....vroom..vroom ... bye G
