slk 55 amg

If you have the money and mercedes is what you want. slk 55 amg. The car pulls 0-60 in 4.7, quarter in 13 ish, and skidpad of .92. It's about $10-15k more than the regular slk 350, but it looks, performs, and has more comfort than anything out there. Check out the article in the last issue of car and driver.

I had my G up on autotrader.com for a couple of months and the SLK was one that I was considering. I test drove a couple 350s and was very disappointed, it was very sluggish. I tried to find an SLK55 to try out, but they are pretty hard to find- Im sure that would be a much better option. The 350 is still a little too feminine for me, the 2 seat layout wasnt practical, and the performance just wasnt there. I could overlook the lack of a backseat for the AMG, and it does have a more aggressive look. Also test drove the C55 AMG and wasnt really that impressed either.

well i can afford a 50 k car but a 70k is a little too much. lookwise planning to add a lip lower and rims to make it look more aggressive than femine.

Sorry G

But between these two, money aside, I'd go with the SLK. I saw one in Firemist Red the other day with the top down. It was gorgeous...

SLK is a nice ride too, just slower than your G. If it's what you want, go for it.
If I went for it, I'd have to up the power to match the G.

Its nimble... and zippy, not the same power, but how many times a year do you actually use the full potential of the G?

i'm not too sure if slk is slower tho 268hp/258tq 3231lb and we all know japanese HP isnt the same as euro cars. i'd go with MB after all it's a higher/better class

IMO the SLK is still rather feminine in nature. If it is as unreliable as my '03 E320 was - good luck. You'll need it.

I read the article where the SLK350 gets 0-60 in about 5.3 seconds... Thats in automatic form I believe (7-speed). Its actually supposedly faster than its manual counterpart. For that price though, I'd be considering an M3.

ah, see that right there is the problem with guys like us- no matter how much we spend on a car, we still have to mod it to be happy. Thats one of the reasons I decided to just keep my G instead of getting the CLS I wanted, Im just going to build the engine and drop in a TT on the G.

Read some objective quality reviews of the MB. I looked at an 230SLK before buying the G, but they continue to have many quality problems. I lost the site, but there is a web site for folks who have had problems with their MBs, really numerous and serious ones compared to the ones I've seen posted om this site.
