Headlights STOLEN in Secure Parking Lot, NJ
Headlights STOLEN in Secure Parking Lot, NJ
Stayed at the Double Tree Hotel in Jersey City in a Secure Parking Lot with an attendant Sunday night while at a wedding and woke up to phone call from the font desk asking me to come down to the lobby. Happens that the attendant left for 20 minutes to help the hotel with express check out (what?) and at 5:30am and when he returned he noticed my headlights were missing.
The cops say that these headlights are very easy and very fast to remove. They are popping the driver side locks which lowers both windows, sometimes pop the hood and pry out the entire light assembly. 5 minutes or less.
What the F*ck, where are these lights being used? I had an Audi stolen for the headlights a few years back but those had projectors that I understand can be retrofitted to any car, are these F*ck Faces steeling the whole assembly just for the $200 bulbs?
Between the rattles and now the headlights, this car is driving me crazy. It drives me nuts to drive it hearing all of the rattles, now I can't even park the car without worrying about if I'm gonna have headlights when I return.
Is it even worth it to try and have anything nice anymore????

I'm sorry for the sad event-it is reallly a shame. When the dealer is replacing the lights, tell him how upset you are about the rattle.
Would a shock sensing alarm help with this type of theft? I have been considering one.
sorry, again.

Oh boy, so sad to hear. Possibly, we will soon see ebay auctions with integra to G35 headlight conversion as they did with the tailight. I am paranoid as is, if something like this ever happens to me, man Im selling the G and buying a POS car.
Did you get your car scratched too?

What do you mean by popping off the drivers side door lock? actually ripping out the lock from the door handle, or slipping something in between the window and the door? There has to be a way to prevent this. Please let me know so I can do what is necessary to prevent the same thing from happening to me.
Sundeviljay,
Yes, they actually removed the entire lock near the door handle. There is nothing there except a hole next to the door handle.
The factory alarm was not set off (explained below) and I did not have an after market alarm installed since I figured the factory alarm and immobilizer would prevent theft. Also, did not think the HID’s would be getting stolen, I thought only the projector lights were the hot ones. Stupid me!!!
Anyway I found out a little more of how they get the lights out without the alarm going off:
1. After they pop (remove) the key lock the car thinks it's unlocked
2. Then they punch a hole right above the key lock and push up for a few seconds. This simulates us unlocking our doors with the key and holding it until the windows go down.
3. Then sometimes they will pop the hood to make a little easier to remove the lights,
Now since the car door never opens since the windows are already down they can reach in and open the hood and there is no alarm on the hood to set off the alarm. Also once the windows are down the car thinks it's unlocked anyway.
Great security in a great car

Sorry to hear this. Kind of sad that scums out there have nothing better to do than to steal a cars headlights. Is the hotel going to cover the charges for new headlights and a door handle?

Well you cant bash our security system... there is always a way on any mass produced car. Fortunatelly, Ive never heard of ppl stealing stuff where I live. Reasons like this make me NEVER go to the movies on my car or any club or anywhere pretty much. Unless I trust wherever Im going, I go with someone else and his/her car. Paranoid? YES, safe car HELL YES.
