i have a 05 6mt with oem bridgestone potenzas. is there a tread life warranty on these tires? i tried searching but couldn't find anything. i seem to be going through the tread rather quickly (on the fronts) and i am wondering if there's any "default" warranty available from bridgestone that infiniti would honor.

Infiniti doesn't make the tire so you'd have to check with your local Bridgestone people.
That being said, the lower the treadwear on a tire the less likely you are to get a guaranteed mileage.

the RE50A treadwear is rated at 140 but traction doesn't seem to be very good. I had S0-3 on my last car, the treadwear on those were 220 but had much more traction. And i believe that the S0-3 are less expensive.

I believe the Tire Warranty is by the tire manufacturer. Check your owners manual. Tread wear will most likely be covered on a sliding scale so you won't get full replacement cost. Tread wear rating of 140 is pretty low

Treadwear index is not [and never was] designed for comparison between tire brands.
A ranking device within on line of one brand of tires.
If car manufacturers could they would sell cars without tires and make buyers supply their own............a big liability headache to avoid. Smart companies use fast wearing treads so that the tire is worn out long before the 20,000 mile point when internal stress damage begins to show up.

bleh...this is what tirerack.com says...
While treadlife/mileage warranties do not apply to tires fitted as Original Equipment on new vehicles because the vehicle manufacturers chose not to purchase it from the tire manufacturers, their cost is factored into the price of tires sold in the replacement market.

Most if not all "high performance" tyres (love the way they spell that across the pond) have no treadwear warantee. Lord knows how we all treat them!
