mods for increasing midrange power

What are some good mods for increasing low to mid range hp and torque? I just want the car to feel peppier and more powerful during normal driving, in the 2k-4k rpm range. I am not looking for mods that add hp up top and sacrifice power down low. My 2005 at coupe will be arriving in a few days? Any ideas guys?

thanks

Well, I have no idea how serious you want to go, but I'll throw out a few options to get the ball rolling. Hopefully some more members will come up with other ideas.

The JWT 260 X .428" cams or Nismo R-Tune cams (262 X .426") with the JWT heavy duty valve springs should do you quite well. As always, the proper exhaust with a pop-charger will only compliment this set-up.

I know some of our other members have some ideas...

Headers and plenum in addition to cams. The search button is calling for you.

I dont plan on doing that cams or anything of that nature, I was thinking more along the lines of bolt-ons, but thanks for the ideas.

That sounds good, I've found many mixed reviews of crank pulleys, how do you like yours? And this will be effective on an auto tranny?

thanks

Pulleys sound good.......warranty issues might come up with this one.

Here are the basics (in order):

• Cold Air Intake
• Plenum or plenum spacer
• High flow cats (don't do test pipes.....you WILL lose torque - PERIOD (unless you plan on running a turbo or supercharger)
• Y-pipe
• Aftermarket exhaust (do your homework on this one, because some can actually gain power on the upper end, but lose torque).

These listed above are what I would consider to be the basics. Once you get these done and still have money to burn, look at headers (again, do your homework....because there are some crappy ones out there)

I'm glad to see someone ask about boosting torque. Not many people care about it. Most people just want to have high HP numbers so they can brag. Torque is the most important thing for me.

* Running the highest octane fuel you can will definitely help. If you can run 93 octane, then you really won't need to get your ECU reprogrammed. If you run 91 or less, reprogramming your ECU might be a good option.

Dumb question: I thought we have to run no less than 93 octane in our cars?

Well I only have 92 available in Washington State. I doubt there's that much of a difference between 92 and 93. I want to try some octane boost to see how fun that is. ; )
