+1 BabiePhat and I were playing cat n mouse on the highway one night so we can see the reflection of the Brembos on our massive RH Pro J8 & J5 rear lips! They look amazing!!

Jusr to point out that for a BBK comparable or a little better then the Brembos, you will be looking at a minimum of $3K.....That's a pretty steep price after buying a $40K car.

Again, go 2005! The Brembos were dropped from the G35 for a reason. I guarantee you the new 05's brakes work just as well.

There are many more reasons to get an '05 over an '04.

Brembos

I love the brembos. I catch people stare at them all the time. Some time ago, dealer told me they were dropped because of high costs for Infiniti, and that 05s are just as good. Anyway, I wanted pearl with black leather, so '05 was out of the question for me since they stopped making that combination. I brag about having brembos but I would probably get an '05, just because it is newer, and has a lot of updates over the '04. On the other hand I saved at least 6 grand by buying slightly used. Different decisions are for different people.

I say buy the 05 and then upgrade the brakes of aftermarket Brembos, Endless or Stoptech. You can always upgrade the brakes but an interior makeover would be very very difficult to do. Besides, seems the dyno proves 05 has significant power advantage over the 04. (6MT)

As with many cars each model year makes some small cosmetic improvements until a complete redesign. The '05 is no different. I'm unique here I think, in that I really like the '04 interior as well as the '05 and prefer the '04 wheels.
It's great Infiniti made improvements to the '05 OE brakes so apparently they work as well as the Brembos under normal driving conditions. The one thing they lack is the standout look and name cachet of the Brembos. As others have said it's a regular thing to have people ask about the Brembos. Are they stock, wow do they look nice etc?
That's a long answer to say I'm happy with my '04.

I just got a chance to take an 04 6MT for a spin yesterday for the first time. All I can say about the FEEL of the Brembos compared to 03/04 5AT is WOW; compared to my 05, yes the braking feel is better, but it's not a night-and-day difference like the 03/04 auto vs 05 OEM. I didn't notice any greater stopping power with the Brembos, just a better braking feel of the pedal. And of course the looks, love the amber reflection on a 4.5" chrome lip. Do I wish I had them, sure, but I really think it's not that big a deal as people make it sound like.

05 with better interior and 298hp, 04 with Brembos and more torque, blah blah blah. It's the same car people, but you know the grass is always greener on the other side.

You're right there was a reason for the Brembos to be dropped. It was to help increase profit margins for Infiniti not to improve the car.

Smaller rotors (not sure about caliper size) and the brakes are terribly grabby. The Brembos have much more of a linear feel. As far as problems, a lot of people had problems with premature wear and there was a lawsuit against Nissan. That's why 03/04 5AT get free replacement for 36,000 miles I think Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
