G35C 6M, handling VS. 350Z handling ??

I was looking at buying a 350Z (single guy, so space is not important), BUT i am starting to "fall" for the G35C. One question i have concerns the G35c's handling. Can anyone tell me if there's a big difference between the 350z and the G35c (in handling)? I expect the G35c to be a little "softer" but i was wondering if i would NEED to replace the springs on the G35c to get 350Z-like handling. PLease note that i would not change the springs to lower it, but only stiffen it slitghtly (since lowering it would probably encourage the feathering bugs !)

One more little question... can i expect to have less "feathering" issues with the G35c ?
Thanks !

I think best way to find out is for you to go test drive them and compare the two. I got 05 G35c 6MT and I love the handling on mine even with stock suspension. 6MT comes with Sport-tuned suspension as standard, so it's different from the automatics (which is optional).

I was like you, and considered both the 350Z as well as the G35 Coupe. The 350Z seems to have a slightly stiffer suspension than even the G35 Coupe 6MT. Still, the G35 Coupe handles the twisties VERY well. I am also single and don't require the space that others do for children, car seats, etc. But, the extra space CAN come in handy when you have to lug around golf clubs, luggage or groceries. In other words, while you don't require the space now, you'll appreciate it if you've got it.

I have the MY05 G35 coupe w/sports package and I think the handling is ridiculously soft. If you want a car w/ awesome handling and dont care about space then get an s2000. I can fit 2 golf bags in the back seat of my s2000.. The G35 is not meant for racing or taking the twisties in my opinion. If you want a car thats is better than both the G35 and 350z in the handling and speed department.. i highly recommend the s2k.

I've owned a Honda S200, Nissan 350Z, and a G35 Coupe. All three are very capable. The S200 is great, but it's very unforgiving and painful as a daily driver (not to mention the lack of torque). The G and the Z feel very similar to me. The Z has a slight advantage in cornering because of its size, but the G has better high speed stability (lower drag longer wheel-base). In road tests, the G often turns in better skidpad / slalom numbers than the Z. Just my 2 cents - probably not even worth that much.

the g35 handles amazing!!! really, and because the G has a back seat it is a longer car(longer wheel base) around 12', actually accounts for better handeling. Both cars have close to no body roll, you could also check around i read somewhere that the G35 did better in the skidpad than the 350Z somthing like .92g's compared to .89g's check it out. The G35 handles as if were on rails. dont believe me... drive one

how about feathering ?

any feedback on the infamous feathering issue which seems to haunt the 350Z ? Is it more rare of an occurence on the G35c ?

I had some feathering on my front tires after 18K miles but I think it is more rare on G35. I am no expert but I recall reading that these cars come with negative camber for better handling so feathering is going to happen.

From what I've read, the feathering issues are getting worked out as the 350Z models progressed. I don't know that these issues plagued the 350Z, though.

If I'm not mistaken, 03/04 G35 coupe and 350z spring rates are the same. The 05 6MT comes with higher rear spring rates, so if anything the rear should be stiffer. The main difference is in size and height, the Z feels more nimble, lighter and sits closer to the ground, it's much like the Z4. Just testdrive them back to back and you'll feel the difference.

I'm sorry, I meant the trunk not back seats.
Second of all.. face it guys, the G isnt that "fast" and it doesnt handle great. I'm not saying its a bad car, minus the cheap interior..
and to you my friend, obviously you are still to young to understand whatsup and have to use your childish antics to criticize someone who knows the truth

the g35 is a great car, but no matter what car you get, there will probably be a better one. the 350z is a great car as well but in terms of luxury and looks the g far surpasses it. those damn taillights always bugged me
