Car Care (Zaino / California Car Duster)
Hey guys, I have a question about how people keep their car clean. I just Zainod the crap out of my car this past weekend and I must say that it works as promised. The gloss is amazing and the paint feels so slick right now. However, in the time since then, I've built up a bit of dust. Does anyone use the California Car Duster? Also, anyone else use Zaino?

I just put 3 layers of Zaino last week. Pain in the butt. The result, it looks ok I was expecting more. Maybe because my car is silver and I have been using crystal guard before. Anyways, I use the Cali Car Duster too. My advise is to shake the dust off the duster after each wipe. b/c big dust might scratch you car

Seems like everyone around here uses Zaino. I'm going to have to order some since I can't find it locally.
Anyone use Zaino with the amatuer-level Porter-Cable pollisher? I've been thinking of getting one. At 34 with 2 kids under 3, I just don't have the time or strength to spend all day waxing the car by hand.
And the CA Duster is great, once you do the recommended break-in (wrapping it in newspaper for a couple of days). I've let them get pretty dirty without resulting in any scratches... ...but it could happen if you're careless. Just use as directed. A light touch is all it takes. I usually went a year between car washes with my garaged '55 Chevy Bel Air when I had it. Just dusted it and freshened up the wax from time to time. You can't beat it when you just need to get some dust or pollen off a clean car. Never tried the water blade, but I think I will.

I have used Zaino exclusively since I got my E46 M3 in 2001, and continued with my 05 6MT coupe. Yes, you must dust lightly, and shake the duster often. Here in Florida, Zaino lasts far longer than any other product I tried, and bugs, bird crap, etc are very easy to remove. I use Meguiars number 9 twice a year to remove any scratches in addition to Zaino every 3 months. Zaino just came out with their own scratch and swirl remover and I will try that when I use up the Meguiars. My cars are always black and it took a while to find products and techniques to keep them looking good.

I use the Porter Cable polisher for the fine cut Meguiars #9 scratch and swirl polish, but do the Zaino by hand. You can use the polisher, but you waste a lot of Zaino, and it is not really easier or faster. Remember you do not have to work the Zaino like other polishes- just wipe it on. I put on 2 coats of Zaino every time I use it and it takes about 2 hours to apply and remove both.

DMC, Neffster, thanks. I really appreciate the Porter-Cable tip. I really won't need it for the new car then. I should have bought it when I had the '55 Chevy.
And that's great to know that the Zaino is so much easier to use. I've been using Meguire's 3-step for years... ...with average results after a day of hand waxing! I've been killing myself for mediocrity!!
