Just when you think you've read them all...

Thought I'd check out the new M6, couldn't possibly imagine a brand such as BMW would even write something like this....

"...limited top speed of 155 miles per hour. The top speed may be limited, but with the speedometer reaching all the way to 205 mph, the mind conjures intriguing possibilities."

They should put a 400mph speedo and tack on another 5G.

ECU reflash will get rid of limiter - just have to wait for some MFR to produce the code...

Same goes for our G.

So what's the issue? The big german 3 all agreed to limit top speed on all of their vehicles to 155mph, but with over 500hp and an aerodynamic body, it'll probably do 180-190mph. In that case, a 205mph speedo seems about right.

Pussies all. Makes me mad. That's one of the reason I no longer care for german cars.

Heh. I used to have a 1995 E320 that I got used from my parents. Actually, I got screwed, having spent $8000 in 1 1/2 years. That's when I moved to the G.

I really like that BMW blurb. For amusement value, I'm tempted to glue on a BMW speedometer onto my vacuum cleaner: "The rush of acceleration never lets up until your arms get tired. The top speed may be limited by the 4 hp motor, but with the speedometer reaching all the way to 205 mph, the mind conjures intriguing possibilities."

In Europe, they tax your vehicle based on the performance and hp. That is why they put a limiter on their vehicles when sold, to help out the consumer. Once you purchase the vehicle, you can remove the limiter or replace it with a more powerful one.

Get your facts together before you get mad at them, or call them wuss

Just a side note, either way the German built their cars for the autobahn which can blow the doors off your G.
