Listen, people. Get a grip. Getting into a car is the least of a thief's worries. My Civic had been broken into many times. Not once did they ever mess with the door lock. Window's are easy to get past. I even helped someone who was locked outside their car by pulling the glass outward with my bare hands and unlocking it from the inside. And I've never stolen anything in my life. It took me 2 minutes! This can be done to ANY CAR! If anything the rolldown feature minimizes damage to your door by thieves.

The best thing to do is get an alarm with a proximity sensor, turn off your trunk switch and lock your glove box. This will give you a liiiittle bit of protection if you absolutely must keep something valuable in your trunk. Otherwise. don't keep anything valuable in your car.

And thieves dont' care much for loud alarms either. They'll still be in and out of your car in 10 seconds despite the noise because most people don't pay attention to alarms.

Maybe we should import some alarms from South Africa. I remember GM actually offers a factory alarm, (IIRC), for the Vette there, that'll send 50,000 volts into all the seats if the alarm is tripped. I think there was an option for an external mounted flame thrower too. I think it was called the Anti-Car-Jacking package, or something like that.

IIRC, that guy left his valet key in the center console or glove box or something like that.

I don't know what it's called. (I think you're right tho). When I ordered the part, the parts guy just showed me a picture of the schematic of the whole door handle assembly, and I just pointed to the cover, and he ordered it for me.

It is actually the cover for the lock portion of the door handle that is for the passenger side that has no lock......it can be used to replace the similar piece from the drivers side that has the hole in it for the lock......thus effectively covering up the lock cylinder.
