If you ever decide to rebadge, just order a new emblem. It'll come prepped for mounting and all together as one piece so it'll be much easier to apply in the right place, with the right spacing, etc.
Price the replacement moniker before you remove the original and decide if it's worth the replacement cost. They can't be that much.

All- need some advice: I've got an 03 Sedan that I think I'd like to debadge (better late than never..??) but my concern is if my paint has faded / hence the possiblity of leaving "shadows" where the emblems/letters were. Has anyone <stupidly> waited this long before debadging?
What where the results? I am in So. Cal. and concerned that perhaps the sun may have taken it's toll already. Thoughts? Thx.

Even with under 300 miles on my '05 IP coupe, I could notice a very sublte ghost image after removing the emblems. I'm not sure if it was the Zaino or simply being in the sun since then, but I haven't noticed that again since removing them about 2 weeks ago.
I used fishing line, since dental floss kept breaking. I got the fishing line as close to the paint as possible (behind each emblem) without touching the paint, to avoid scratching it with the nylon-based fishing line. It cut right through the adhessive, leaving thick adhessive in the shape of the emblem. Don't F around and get too rough trying to get the adhesive off. Just keep hitting the adhesive with Goo Gone and be patient.
I also followed the Zaino suggestion, using a 100% USA Cotton and Made-in-the-USA towel (DON'T skimp or you'll regret it, cheapskate! ), which avoided any scratches. Patience and Goo Gone are two of the greatest tools for this task... ...along with the requisite good towels. (I use the 100% USA Grown and Made In The USA line of white towels from Wamsutta... ...available at Bed, Bath & Beyond )
I used my fingers to roll the excess adhessive onto itself, essentially snowballing it onto itself. This only removed so much, but it was usually enough that the Goo Gone and washcloth could take care of the rest without as much trouble.
Wash and wax your trunk again after using the Goo Gone to remove any of it's residue. Better safe than sorry... ...and it will help to remove any ghost images left behind from the emblems.

my task was interesting...
i wanted to debadge and re-badge with black-metallic emblems.
i refused to pay the $200 that the online companies are charging for them. so i went to the dealer and bought the emblems (everything but the "G35") - it cost around 30-50 bucks i believe. i repainted them - ill give details about how i did that in another thread.
then i debadged - did the methods listed above - washed and reapplied the new emblems - no problem at all
as for having to put them back on for the lease return - i dont think that is really true - if they have a problem with it they can reapply them in three seconds themselves or u can do the same - just buy from the dealer or one of the online nissan parts store.
i personally dont like the fully debadged look anyway. i have the Mt. Fuji and the INFINITI but now in a glossed black metallicish color

1) Any body shop can put the new badges on if you are nervous.
2) My DGM has ghosting where the stockers where. It is a 2003.5 that spent most of it's life in the garage.
3) Reapplying is using the 3M dual sided emblem tape and cutting it to fit. It takes all of 20 minutes to do...don't go buy a new emblem.
4) Nissan paint quality sucks.
