1. wash with two buckets.. 1 for soap one to clean your towel
2. start from the top of your car and work your way down
3. once your down with the roof work your way from HOOD to rear.. avoid dirty areas such as around the splash guards and areas close to the exhaust tips..
4. do your rear bumper and front bumper afterwards
5. do your splash guards and underbody last
6. if your towel becomes dirty where its very noticable on the towel.. go get another one.
7. YAY ur done.. hell no go get another clean towel and wash it again
8. use the water to do most of your drying
9. dry with ONLY clean towels from top to bottom
10. wax wax wax (NXT works great vs scratches)
11. use buffer
12. when hand buffing.. do NOT apply too much pressure..
A few other tips.

I use one wash mitt (very nice) for the majority of the car - then a separate one for the underbody, and bottom of the spalsh guards.

I use yet another one with separate soap for the wheels. I then use that soap and yet ANOTHER mitt for the inside of the wheel wells. Yes, I wash and treat the wheel wells of the car.

I use a different wax, but that is a matter of personal preference. I prefer Mother's over the NXT - it has better durability FOR ME.

I use Mother's Sealer Glaze to comba the little swirlies and so far have had no issue.

I don't use a buffer - I find that hand detailing keeps me in touch with where the problem areas are on my car. It takes longer, but you spend more time looking at the different areas of your ride.

I'll never own a black car. Been there, done that.

The most overused phrase in a black car owner's vocabulary is:

"Yeah, but it looks great when it's clean."

(which, by MY standards, is up until about 10 minutes after you get done detailing, pull it outside and the wind covers it with dust)

ill keep this as short as possible:
1. genuine sheepskin wash mitt
2. any good car wash should do, such as nxt etc
3. rinse frequently..if there's a lot of dirt, use two buckets, 1 to rinse with 1 to soap up with
4. waffle weave microfiber towel (http://www.pakshak.com) to dry. make sure its clean.
5. use a california wiper blade style product to wipe the water away from all glass
6. get small waffle weave microfiber towels for touch up stuff

make sure to dry the car in a front-back motion (the direction of airflow) this minimizes the visibility of swirls if you accidently cause them.

LOL, I know what you mean. If you aren't a perfectionist, black can look great for a few days, but you are right about the dust. I'm going to get a job as a rain maker, because there's a 100% of rain within 48 hours of me detailing my black G35 coupe.
