I wish I knew how to surf...... tried to learn but the instructor told me swimming was a prerequisite.

Nice that you point out a flaw with my suggestion, but offer no other option to replace it...

Agree, not everywhere has a shower. Something you have to worry about - you can always just towel off your board.

Given the limitations of what the OP asked, this was the best idea I could come up with. What do you recommend.

Used a soft rack for years, never had a problem.

board sock, board bag, towel all solve the problem... IMO, stopping surfing isn't the solution. Maybe try applying the clear bra to the roof. This way you can put soft racks up there w/o scratching the roof all up.

I have fit my 6'4 Al Merick in my car but a 7'6" board is going to be tough. I would not want to put a rack on top of my car in fear of scratching it. That is why I use my Nissan Pathfinder when I go to the beach.

As far as sand... get a shopvac. By far one of mans better inventions.
