I need a quick answer re: Crawford Cats
Sorry to post here but I need a quick answer. Would it be normal for a set of Crawford Cats to have a substantial amount of surface rust (IMO) after 5 months of use in the late spring/summer?
I found the answer
Thanks to the good ppl of this forum, I found out that something out of the ordinary was definitely wrong with those cats. They must have been left out in the rain! Very Rusty!
Crawford Cats are awesome for the record! They do not rust! I want to make this clear!
This happen b/c some guy selling cats in this forum tryied to pull a scam!
Others beware!

Crawford cats will 'rust' some, this is normal. They will get surface corrosion (more technically correct term) but it will take a very long time for them to rust to the point where they are no longer good. All steels get their strength from IRON. Iron rusts, period. Stainless steel rusts when not treated properly.
You can have stainless steel that is galvanized, powdercoated, cadmium plated, machined with non-ferrous tools, etc... Scratch it and it rusts where ever you removed the finish. Just the nature of the material.

Remember when you change to non oem cats, you are legally responsible to return the emission system to oem exactness [buy new oem cats and pay for their installation] if you sell the car prior to 100,000 miles.
A future owner can get this enforced by the courts. Say they fail emissions a year [even 2-3] after they buy your used car [and the cats are the culprit].....they trace the tampering act back to you.
Not likely but something to think about..........or just keep the car until 100,000 miles.
High flow cats ---- high flow because they have bigger comb holes with a thinner dusting of the active catalyst material.......designed to only work well for a few years at best.
