Not too sure!??? I too was looking into this ceramic tint. However, I was leaning toward the 30.... Anyway, I have a sample piece here in front of me now and when I hold it so the light reflects off it, I can see what you would say would be similar to an oil slick on water. It has a rainbow of pink/blue/yellow colors. Is this normal... Don't know for sure, but this piece is like that. I would definitely be interested in what you find out, cuz I am very close to dropping $400 for the job myself.

I know exactly what your talking about since I install Huper alot. That happens from heat shrinking the tint and its called "ghost" or "ghosting". Its just a characteristic of the ceramic in the film and from the heat applied to install it. Since its impossible to put in the film without out shrinking its almost unavoidable. The more curvature the glass has the worst it gets. On the other hand on some cars you may not see it at all. I have done Jags and Grand Marquis with an extreme curve on the rear glass and you dont see it at all for some reason it can be seen clearly on G35's. I had request to tint windsheilds in Huper 50% on the G but I refused to do it just becuse of that problem. Llumar also does the smae thing but in the Platinum films only when too much heat is applied. I try to minimize it as much as I can but its normal. Like with the picture below that may be a little too much. The first G35 I've done in Huper I changed the rear glass about 4 times thinking that I did something wrong but it wasnt my technics its just the film but like I said it can be minimized to where its barely noticable.

V35 - I called my Local Tint Shop (Far Beyond Tint)... They said that this is a common effect with this Huper Optik. The reason the tint is showing a rainbow reflection is due to the angle of the glass and how the light is reflecting off the ceramic material in the film. That it will not be present from the inside. Also, that you will NOT see it from a distance. You must get up close and adjust the angle to see the rainbowing effect.

I too have Maui Jim sunglasses (Polarized)! This effect is common on a lot of vehicles that can't be seen without my sunglasses on. My unofficial take from this is it must just be some type of Polarization Effect. I guess it just goes to show that with every great product, there are always drawbacks!

Can you take a side pic of your G? So I can see how great your G looks with this tintjob?

If you have to search for the rainbow to see it, it's definitly not a drawback. In about a year, Ask your rear headrests how much they appreciate you spending the extra few bucks on higher quality widow tint. I am sure all regrets of this install will quickly disappear!

Try Formula One. No discoloration here.

I have had Huper Optik on 5 previous cars, but decided to go with Formula One's "Pinnacle" series window tint this time around due to the "ghosting" issues. With Formula One I went with 35% all the way around with 50% on the windshield with no ghosting issues at all. With the Huper I have always gone with 30% all around and 50% on the windshield...and always had the ghosting issues, which as G-Crazy mentioned, looks like an oil slick on water. I could see the ghosting from the inside and outside....and although it never really did bother me that much, I decided to go with the Formula One this time around to achieve the clarity (no ghosting) and ceramic film functionality. I couldn't be happier.

BTW, those of you who have gotten the Formula One Pinnacle film....how much did it cost you? All around? Windshield?
