I know, I know. We all go thru it sometimes in life.......it's called DENIAL. Don't worry though it'll pass as soon as Infiniti comes up with something to better our aging G35s.

There may be many many factors such as gearing tires tranny set up, TC stall speed etc- more than just HP and weight that can make a difference in the performance. C&D is always a bit on the quick side with the acceleration numbers IMO even with the G coupe. No other mags are ever able to match most of their times. The fact of the matter remains however that other car companies are targeting the G35 as the car to beat performancewise.

nissan has some serious work to do, upping the hp by making it rev higher will keep decreasing torque, its not going to be easy to match/best the toyota 3.5l engine. im sure their technitians are hard at work right now to improve the vq35.

Yeah, it's called a 3.8L VQ with 324 hp and 282 lb/ft!

Some interesting data on the IS350...

Weight 3537 lb
306 hp@ 6400 rpm
277 lb/ft @ 4800 rpm
Compression ratio: 111 (no FI here)
Gearing:
I 3.520
II 2.042
III 1.4
IV 1.00
V .716
VI .586
Final 4.083

This car gearing very aggressively. All I need now is the MPH in each gear to make the assumption that the race is over past 100 mph. Fifth AND sixth gears aren't ideal for triple digit runs in this car. I can see why it got 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds. Any compression past 101 is asking for trouble.

i doubt toyota would ever put out a unreliable engine. its probably really sturdy, strong block, heads and all that good stuff.

With Toyota reliablity and build quality, i'd take it. A win is a win. The G will lose, simple logic. Doesn't take a bulging forehead vein to figure that one out.

Just wanted to chime in re: C&D Review.

I've read that review and they have 2 lines that contribute to their overall ranking of BMW being #1.

The 2 lines being to the tune of: "Gotta have it factor" and "Fun to Drive" factor.

Just a little qualitative in my opinion...but that's just me.

"Gotta have it factor" and "Fun to Drive" factor" do not take precedence in anyones book over "it broke down, though, but still was fun."

The compression ratio is higher in Direct Injection cars such as the new Audi and Lexus. I bet up to the Lexus's governed limit of 142, the G35 sees its ugly a$$ tail lights.

Somebody just found out there's a mistake by Car and Driver, & there's only 74 points for the BMW 330i in "Vehicle", according to the numbers published by them

That would mean 212 points and tied for first position with Lexus.

8+7+3+4+3+7+9+7+9+0+17= 74 ???? not 75
