Is it just me or is Infiniti going backwards on the G35?

also, dont compare the performance of upgraded stock to brembo. upgrade both if you want to do an honest 1-1 comparison.
i cant believe so many people want to debate whats the better braking system, 04 brembo or 05 infiniti

One test out of all those the Coupe beat the Sedan by 112 vs 114. WOW! But a Sedan got 110 ft in another test.
The 05 brakes are cheaper, and can be made better for TRACK USE than the Brembos. Brembos give you the flashy name and calipers. You already get dual piston calipers on the new 05 brakes, slap on some better pads and high temp fluid, and man you got yourself a great braking system ready for the track.
Remember the calipers do not change fade, nor heat. It is the rotors and pads that do this. And the rotors are the same between cars with a hair difference size..
G35_TX: You are saying that only the pad and fluid impact the braking performance? The Brembo 4 pistons versus 2 in the OEM does not make a difference? Then why does the best Porshes and Ferrari has 6 Pistons?
It's funny how you feel every one are stupid, but you. You must have a very big ego. Wow, a Sedan got 110ft in a 60-0mph braking test (better than any 6MT). This isn't worth sh*t, since that day, they didn't perform a 6MT test. Who knows, they may have got 105 ft with Brembo in the same circumstances (we will never know). The only test that matters is the side by side compare (same track/same parameters) and the OEM brake didn't do as well as the Brembo. I don't know why you can't understand this.
In any case, the G35s (OEM and Brembo) have braking performance that compare well to many exotics. Very few cars do 60-0mph in the 110 to 115ft. Afterall, isn't it what really maters?

4 piston vs 2 piston isn't going to HELP FADE. Pads, rotors, and fluid help with fade, not the pistons. Do you race? I doubt it.

EOD. I gave the facts. You can't argue agaisnt those.

The 4 piston provides a more unniformed pressure on the disk than a 2 piston braking system. Therefore, if all other braking system parameters are the same, fade will be less on a 4 pistons caliper.

You put better pads on a non-brembo car with better fluids it will do better on the track than a brembo equiped car.

This article does numerous tests with the 350z, with and without the brembo braking system. Read the article and realize that brembos are VERY good at what they do.

I suggest you look at the measurements because your wrong. It is not significantly larger. .2 larger of a inch if you think that is a lot.
PS, even the article said why the Brembo did better. Due to rotor size. The 03-04 brakes were much smaller than the 05. Try the test again with a 05, it won't be near as bad if not equal.

OEM Wheel Poll
I appoligize for not continuing the Brembo/Non-Brembo discussion.
I would like to see a poll regarding OEM wheels. These are the options I had in mind:
1) I currently have oem 18's and prefer the oem 18's
2) I currently have oem 18's but prefer the oem 19's
3) I currently have oem 19's and like them better than the oem 18's
4) I currently have oem 19's and prefer the oem 18's
5) I currently have aftermarket wheel but prefer the oem 18's on other G's
6) I currently have aftermarket wheel but prefer the oem 19's on other G's
7) I don't own a G but like the oem 18's
8) I don't own a G but like the oem 19's
7) I'm not sure if I like the oem 18's or 19's.
I would like this to keep the poll general in nature. Please feel free to suggest any modifications to the options. Does anyone else think this poll would be a good idea? I personally would like to know what everyone thinks. Maybe we could show a pic of two stock G's, one w/ 18's and the other w/ 19's. Would anyone like to go ahead and start the poll?

Good idea...howabout you start it
I think one of the biggest problems with the G, as well as many other cars (IS350), is that every year they are becoming heavier and heavier. Weight is one of the few things that you can really do very little about to negate its effects.
That being said, and trying to get back on topic, I think many of the items on the 06 G are good upgrades since they are largely behind the scences, but I think the exterior has lost some of its edge big-time and is starting to look very conservative. The weight of the car seems like it will be getting out of control in the future unless something is done to slim it down.

Its easy, go to Start a New thread in this forum and all the way at the botom, check poll, the number of choices you will have, then post some text. It will then take you to another window that will ask you to type out the choices, and viola! You're done!

2004 G35 coupe with Brembos - 12.76" x 1.18" ventilated front rotors/13.07" x 0.87" ventilated rear rotors
2005 G35 coupe - 12.6-inch/12.1-inch ventilated
The brembos are larger in the front and MUCH larger in the back. The brembo rotors are also THICKER than the standard rotors and have 4 pistons versus 2. The Brembos reduce fade significantly compared to the stockers regardless of year.
Also, go look at 350z.com. I've done a lot of research there on braking kits and most people agree that the brembo system is significantly better than the standard ones the 350z gets. That is why the 2006 track version gets the brembos as an option and the others don't...brembos are BETTER.
They maybe better but not by much per even the test you posted.
On the street neither are better than the other. Is it worth the upgrade to brembo over 05 brakes. Definitely not. Is it worth a upgrade to a 14" brake setup from stop-tech over the 05. Definitely.
