a little fun with a wrx

i just had some fun against a wrx.i have an 05 auto,so i didnt expect much.i dont know if he didnt know how to drive or what.i know he had a stick.off the line i took him by about a 1/2 car, then up to 100mph we just kept up w/each other.i would have expected to get my *** kicked.so at the next light he asks if i would like to go again.i say yeah, sure.this time he got a better launch,he got about a car length, but from there i kept right up with him.i thought a sti wrx should kick a stock g w/auto's butt?whats your thoughts?btw,i havnt done this in a few years, but the location was perfect.no one would get hurt but us.i wouldnt do this anywhere someon else could get hurt.

Musta been a bad driver if he was in an STi and not taking you off the line. I think their 0-60 is 4.6 seconds.

Yeah, thats the good thing about having an Auto. Consistency. The 4.6 time was done after several attempts, and was the best of all of them done by a professional driver. While its possible, it is tough to consistantly get those times in reality. Tons of people I know can't shift for crap, and mess up, expecially under pressure. STis are very quick cars, and should be able to take us off the line regardless. Are you sure of whether or not it was a WRX or an STi?

I'm suprised he kept up at higher speeds. Its pretty well known that those pocketrocket EVOs and STis will kick *** off the line, but run out of juice at higher speeds after that.

OH, and nice touch at the end to try and prevent the people who will complain about street racing

You sure it was an STi? I don't see why people flame racing so much..a lot of people do it. Even if people do get hurt or their cars get trashed, it's their choice to do it or not.

It was most likely just a plain WRX. There's no way an STI would be giving a 1/2 car length at the start, even if the driver sucked.

it was an sti,he def had problems launching.i guess he wasnt a very good driver.i am just suprised at how well my auto g performed.and the nice touch at the end was true.i am 35,i havnt driven like that in about 6 or 7 yrs.i felt like a kid again last night.i guess you have to just have a little fun sometimes, and not worry about the consequences.i'll tell you this much though,if i would have gotten a ticket at the speeds we were at,my wife would have been PISSED.

I've had an STi before my G, I have never "launched" the STi, but taking off in the G at full throttle immediatly lets me know that from a stand still, an STi with a not so good driver will "mildly" pull away from me until about 60-70, after 70 ist a different story. With a good driver, it will be a harder pull till 70.

I too had an STI before getting the G and he must have just plain sucked However much I like the G35 sorry to say but it is in noway faster than an STI and not sure if there was something wrong with your STI but mine didn't run out of steam it pulled the whole way. I know the G35 (coupe) is probably not a great track car but I have went up against a few at some open track days and they were no compention on the straight or corners..

i am not saying the g is faster.i just didnt expect it to hang in there.i bought the g for an all around great car.looks, handling, reliability, and some decent power.i didnt want a car that can just go fast.i do respect the power of an sti,i just cant justify the price for a car that, yes is very fast and handles well, but as far as build quality and looks(interior and exterior),it just isnt worth the money.this is just my opinion guys,i dont mean to start a flaming war.

It still could very well be the driver. I've toyed around with some EVOs and SRT-4s, and the EVO should have whooped me, and the SRT-4 should have at least gave me a run for my money. I could tell they were both young kids about my age, who looked like they just got the car. They would revv the hell out of their car from a complete stop and dump the clutch all the time, and I remember the SRT-4 didn't even have a license plate yet.

Oh, any by the way. SPACE after periods and commas!

My buddy has a regular WRX and I can consistantly take him by about 1/2 car length off the line, and then we stay pretty much even untill much higher speeds. I have had both a AT and MT. The MT provides better runs, but even with the 04 AT I was just a little bit behind him at launch, then pulled on him. Im supirsed if it was an STi that he allowed that, must have been a bad driver.
