Quote: can you control boost and adjust the a/f ratio with the vortech?

No..all that is done with the Tune. The Vortech comes with a piggy back for the ECU that actually runs pretty rich (to be safer). A good tune can get you to about 370whp out of the box. The tuner will mess with the timing and the a/f to get where you need to be. You can increase boost by getting a smaller belt as this will push more air in. Of course..you would need to tune it again to get the a/f right. Moral of the story...A good tune goes a long way.

so the downside of the vortech is that its not really "tuneable"

It's very tunable, just boost is not like a turbo. Boost is set by your pulley and you can't really turn up the PSI (If I have understood what I've read correctly). Tunability is determined by the ECU or piggy back system being used, not your FI method.

Quote: Someone on MY350z has high 400's with a supercharger... If I remember correctly it was 478whp. Another person had 500+ with his intercooler spray aparatus on. It is possible to get high horsepower out of the Vortech, yes, you won't get as much as a turbo... but what are you going to do with over 450 anyway? I actually don't know what I would even do with 400.
Pretty impresive #s considerings its supercharged. Well some people feel the need to have over 600+ WHP, don't know why. As for me high 300's are good enough

You also have to understand that 400whp from a s/c is different that 400whp from a turbo. The turbo power comes much quicker in terms of a power spike. (This is what also makes it dangerous on stock internals). The S/C slowly builds its power and there is no spike. Just a gradual and linear rise.

I wanna know more about this different rearend!? Whenever it is brought up in a thread it always dies out. What is this lowered gear rear coming out of and what kind of difference does it make? I know lots of muscle cars use lower rears and on my cycle I lowered the gearing so I guess it makes sense because who needs to go 155 mph anyway?

Quick question wrt the Vortech, is the pulley actually ALWAYS spinnning the SC or is it clutched? (to eliminate parasitic load)

there's actually abig differece, depending on how you go, but try going 70 mps on a smaller rear transaxle, than on the one you have now, the car will pulling revs 2 or 3k higher. So instead of say 3k rev at 70mph your now at 4, 5 or 6. That sucks, it kills your engine more, it blows gas, trying to put a smaller transaxle in a daily driver is not the best idea. It gets to be annoying during high way driving, IF all you're going to do is drag it, good idea.
