When its dry and warm out VDC can be quite intrusive, but with VDC off you have to really listen to the tires and feel of the car. A curving downhill road is the most dangerous.

No flaming needed here.....What you say is true and reflects what I, and many more here think too.

Having said that, I'm sure that Incabear has regrets for what happened and has accepted responsibility.
Perhaps many can learn from this lesson, b4 someone is hurt badly or worse.

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm concerned about when peeps here start talking about turning off the VDC, either partially or fully, and are no longer protected by a very good system proven to save lives and protect property.

Lesson learned.

Colin.

Damn, That gotta hurt, I feel ya. My car was total before and I know the feeling, good thing was that it wasn't my fault so I got my cash. Good luck 2 u on your next car.
To all you peeps-I think he regret what he did and learned a valuable lesson there, no doubt. I don't think he need anyone to tell him that was stupid and how fuctup he is. I'm sure he'll learned...wouldn't you? And imo I don't think he's here asking for your sympathy either. The guy just feel terrible, cut him some slack! I'm sure you all made mistakes or do things that aren't very bright in life and learn from it (at least most of you). It's the fact.

A+

No sympathy here either.

You are a ******* idiot. Its bad enough you crashed your own car, but to put others in harms way because your lack of judgement and stupidity just gets to me. When you dont know how to handle a high powered car like the G you just dont take off VDC.

save your grand turismo skills at home and take some lessons on how to handle the car. I would suggest sticking to civic

at least you're alright and most importantly, you didn't hurt anyone else.. i know you're looking for some sympathy, but as you can see, you're not finding it here..

anyhow, this goes to show that if you don't know how to drive with VDC off, then leave it on.. but you know, in my experience, it's always turned itself on, when i really needed it because even when you think you turned it off, it's never completely off.. you only shut off about 25% of it..

drive safe..

In the summer, I drive with vdc off all the time. There are things you can do with it off in normal spirited driving that makes the car more fun to drive. The car can be driven safely with it off. Keep in mind, I have more seat time in the G35 than mostly everyone here and this is something I didn't do at first. I took a full year to learn the car and its limits and when VDC actually kicks in. I was quite frankly scared to turn it off at first. VDC can't defy the laws of physics, so common sense should prevail. I leave it on in the winter and when it raining and it is actually very helpful in those situations. I think this is a case of inexperience with a high-powered rear wheel drive car, which is becoming very popular these days. We are lucky to have such a system at our disposal that can be turned off or actually turned down. It's still active unless you pull the fuse. Mustang owners get no such system and the new IS350 doesn't allow you to turn it off or down or otherwise. Know you car, its limits and most of all... your limits.

This sums up everything. But you should replace "VDC" with "Nothing"...people think they are invincible with VDC...physics will prevail reagardless of any technology. VDC only helps inexperienced people not find out the hard way right off the bat...

If you drove like that with the VDC off in my Z06, you would have been killed a long time ago.

If you're finding the VDC intrusive while driving, that usually means you're driving near 10/10ths, which means you should be at a track, not on a public road. I've done thousands of miles of "fun" canyon driving in SoCal with both my G and my Z06, and I would never drive either in that environment with the VDC off. The track? Yes, once my skill level got better. But not on a public road. Even if you are the best driver there is, there are too many variables on public roads that you can't anticipate or avoid sometimes. We literally had a truck loaded with a bail of hay spill all of its hay on to our side of the road once right in front of the lead car while whipping around a corner on a Corvette canyon run. Fortunately, the lead car was able to avoid it, and radio'd all the following cars to WATCH OUT, so it was incident free. But its a perfect example of what can happen on these roads. And its cases like that where you want to have your VDC on to help catch you if you make an error.

The VDC on my Z06 has saved my life many times. Turning it off could have deadly consequences with cars with this much power.

Having said this, the VDC on the G35 is very intrusive and it over-reacts many times. I think they should have a "Competitive Driving" mode like the Corvette has, which turns traction control off, but keeps stability control on, but still lets you have some fun kicking the tail out, and steps in only when you get too crazy, preventing a full spin. The VDC system on the G35's is pretty primitive compared to my Z06's. It works, but it doesn't have much fun in mind. It's more like a nanny than a driving assitant.

lol wow you guys, are amazing, homebody just crashed his G35 doing what many of you on this message board do, and just because he lost control, you condem him. Man I know you guys don't have your International Racing license. Most of you have never been to a driving school, and you occasionally take risks with your car. Just like he did, you all gamble all the time.

As for the cat who crashed his car, let me ask you this, did you downshift into third in the middle of cornering at a somewhat high speed? Or did you just downshift into third and punch it into a corner?
