I suppose it should be stated that it's almost always Summer here, which goes a long way in giving me the predominantly VDC-off preference. Winter road conditions occur maybe 4 times in the winter. If/when it snows or freezes, I'll leave the VDC on for that added safety.

As for the rain... ...again, any experience with RWD cars (any car, really) would allow you to understand that you will be able to get the car loose a lot easier due to the decrease in traction on the road surface. Does driving on wet roads really require VDC or does it simply require common sense to chill out in those conditions? I prefer the common sense approach over relying on the VDC to correct bad driver inputs.

For those who have yet to determine what's considered good or bad driver inputs under specific road conditions, again, leave the VDC on for all of our safety. But as a driving enthusiast, I strongly encourage you to find those limits in a safe enviroment. It can only improve your abilities behind the wheel, which can benefit us all.

I was quite frankly scared to turn it off at first. VDC can't defy the laws of physics, so common sense should prevail. I leave it on in the winter and when it raining and it is actually very helpful in those situations. I think this is a case of inexperience with a high-powered rear wheel drive car, which is becoming very popular these days. We are lucky to have such a system at our disposal that can be turned off or actually turned down. It's still active unless you pull the fuse. Mustang owners get no such system and the new IS350 doesn't allow you to turn it off or down or otherwise. Know you car, its limits and most of all... your limits.
Yeah i had a 95 mustang GT. Man I was surprised at how far i could take that thing to the limit on stock suspension. That car doesn't really need VDC, in my opinion this car doesn't really either. I grew up driving v8 real wheel drive cars though, So I'm used to the torquey slide around deal.

Just like he did, you all gamble all the time.

As for the cat who crashed his car, let me ask you this, did you downshift into third in the middle of cornering at a somewhat high speed? Or did you just downshift into third and punch it into a corner?

Perhaps you didn't read all of the thread, otherwise it would be obvious that most of us don't drive like jackasses on public roads. This guy did, which is why we are condemning him. Take it to the track if you are going to screw around.

The track isn't the place to screw around either.

No, but it's a good place to scratch the itch a lot of us get. Unfortunately it seems some people are too stupid to bother.

Empty parking lots have long been a good place to test the limits of your car. With all the performance driving schools and track days, people seem to forget about these locations. It's a shame, as many drivers won't have the time, money or interest to go to a school or track day, leaving them to test their skills on the streets. Pull into a lot, do your business and go.

Take your license out and mail it back to DMV please.
I will even pay for that.
You don't deserve to drive on the road at all.
Driving is a privilege not a right!
I do not need fools like you killing me some day
and put my family suffer in pain.

He crashed his car due to his inexperience. Nobody's fault but his own. Most of us have a lot more common sense then a young kid who just got his first high HP car. You need to stop and think about consequences. Its just like reading the posts about the guys who speed and then post rants that they got pulled over for speeding and calling cops bad names. If you gonna break the law... then expect to pay the price.

I been going to track and autoX events for the past 3 yrs. I know what i can do on the track. But i would never want to do that on the street. On the track you are in a controled environment. On the street there are a lot uncertain variables that come into play.

I was never into racing on a street unless its in a dead area where there are no cars, and even then i never got into it, just because its way too dangerous.

i'm not sure what kind of a response you are looking for here. The fact that he is going to agree with us or the fact that he is going to be semi pissed for calling him an idiot? He can admit to his mistake now i'm sure, but i think its a bit too late dont you think.
I think he is better of going to people he crashed into and saying he is sorry to them(which i'm sure he will never do) . But going by what he said, i'm sure he made up a story that he wasnt racing and that he just lost control.

What's happened has happened. And we can't change that. But he might honestly believe that it was a small mistake, and he can control his car. He might think that he is not wrong in this whole thing and that we are blowing the situation up way bigger than it's suppose to be. If that's the case, then next time it wont be a thread titled "bad news...crashed my baby =(". It'll be "Bad news...I'm in jail for Vehicular Manslaughter"

I'm not his dad, but for the sake of the other drivers on the road, I would still like to hear him admit that he fcuked up.

Nobody is condemning the guy everybody makes mistakes. The difference is, he posted his BIG mistake on a public forum, he had to know he was gonna take a beatin from the more responsible percentile of members on the site. I have 2 words TRACK DAY, your lucky, glad to hear you and more so the driver of the other car are okay. It could have been really bad dude. Save the "see what she can do" stuff for the racetrack or at least an SCCA parking lot event. My 2 cents.

I'm not going to get into how I feel about this because I think that's been covered thoroughly by everyone. I would like to ask you these 2 questions.

1)What prompted you to share this with us? I think it was a good thing to do.
2 After reading all of these responses why don't you share with us what you're thinking now?

Thumbs down

Well, here is an good example of shamed none skilled G owner with some kind of brain damage even before the crash. If I'm the other car's owner, you better not to let me know which one is your new car.
I'm 100% sure if you drive normaly on the road, and a Fker hit you like this. Your post will not be like this is "cool". You will say " this fking idoit.......
Oh, don't forget to show this to your GF so she know how brain less you are.

By the way are your brakes for sale now? LOL
